Mauricio Pochettino is happy to welcome back Harry Kane from "the dark side" of football as Tottenham Hotspur prepare to face Aston Villa on Monday.

Kane ended a run of one goal in 13 appearances with a hat-trick in last weekend's 5-1 win over AFC Bournemouth, a result that moved Spurs to within three points of the top four.

Pochettino believes Kane will learn from his barren spell but is delighted to have seen the England international battle through to rediscover his goal scoring touch.

Tottenham Hotspur striker Harry Kane expects Liverpool players to be pumped up and give "five percent extra" when they visit White Hart Lane on Saturday for the first game under their new manager Juergen Klopp.

Having spent the international break with the England squad, which includes Liverpool duo Nathaniel Clyne and Danny Ings, Kane says it was obvious that Liverpool players were eager to impress Klopp.

"Liverpool are going to have a new manager and they will be up for it. In the first couple of game everybody tries to impress so they will probably have that little five percent extra than usual," Kane told the British media.

Tottenham pulled off a fantastic 4-1 victory over Manchester City on Saturday, aided by a string of offside decisions in the lead up to goals missed by officials.

Manchester United’s long-running pursuit of Harry Kane has taken a rather civilised turn, according to today’s Mirror, which claims the Red Devils have been making “discreet” enquiries about the Tottenham striker’s availability.

The nature of these enquiries is not completely clear, but presumably that’s what makes them “discreet”. And the Mirror, a paper not previously noted for its sensitivity, seem to be the only ones with the emotional intelligence to have noticed them.

Kaka Inspires MLS All - Star Side To Victory Over Tottenham

Former Brazil international Kaka made the most of his first appearance in the Major League Soccer All-Star Game as he helped lead his team past English Premier League side Tottenham Hotspur 2-1 on Wednesday.

Kaka, who enjoyed a long career in Europe before signing with Orlando City last year, opened the scoring with a penalty in the 20th minute in Denver and went on to earn the MVP honor.

Former Spain forward David Villa added a goal for the MLS side in the 23rd minute while Harry Kane scored for Spurs in the 37th minute. "Not bad for my first (All-Star Game)," Kaka told reporters.

Mauricio Pochettino insisted the points were all that mattered after Tottenham limped to a 2-1 Europa League win at Asteras Tripoli. The Premier League side were in complete control by half-time of Thursday's clash, as first Andros Townsend scored from the penalty spot before turning provider for Harry Kane to head home a second - the striker's 10th goal in all competitions this season.

However, Asteras made life difficult for Spurs in the second half as Diego Rolle and Facundo Parra wasted great chances, while Pablo Mazza saw a shot cannon off the post.
