It may have rained, but there was no dampening the Portland Timbers' MLS Cup championship parade on Tuesday as Fanendo Adi and his victorious team mates paraded the city.

The Timbers cruised through downtown Portland on a series of open-air buses on Tuesday afternoon, cheered on from the streets by a raucous crowd of thousands of Timbers supporters. You can check out archived footage of the parade above. Scenes from the route are below:

Nigerian striker Fanendo Adi made history with Portland as the club lifted the MLS Cup for the first time in history. They also scored the fastest goal in the finals after netting in the 27th opening seconds of the match. Adi started in the line up and was close to scoring after his header hit the bar. Adi scored in the semi-final match against FC Dallas. Both keepers gave out a goal each after making errors.

Portland Timbers won the MLS Cup final for the first time in their history as they claimed a 2-1 victory over Columbus Crew in an error-strewn clash.

The Oregon franchise, who only played their first MLS game four years ago, raced to a two-goal lead after just seven minutes having cashed in on goalkeeper Steve Clark's mishap inside 27 seconds and then benefited from a glaring error from the officials in the build-up to Rodney Wallace's second.
