The Barca Backstabbers!!!

Barcelona's progress out on the pitch couldn't be better. The team are having a great season this year, despite all the goings-on in the offices. The plotting, backstabbing, in-fighting and cold-shouldering is constant at the Catalan club. It seems that nobody is getting on with anybody at the Camp Nou. The most worrying fall-out is between Luis Enrique and the sports commission formed by Rexach,

Braida, Mestre and Bordas. The situation couldn't be more strained. Just two weeks ago, the Barça manager stood the commission up. A meeting had been set for all concerned, taking advantage of the FIFA break, after the game with Real Madrid. But Luis Enrique chose not to turn up.

The manager feels that his wishes are not being respected. He took Andoni Zubizarreta's sacking by Bartomeu as a slap in the face, as his backing of the sports director was completely ignored. Zubi's substitutes do not get on half as well with the Asturian. Another thorn in the manager's side is how the club is dealing with Dani Alves's contract renewal.

The Brazilian is the most-used defender by the Barça coach and the impossibility of signing anyone new this summer makes the player even more important at right-back. 'Lucho' wants his player renewed, and sooner rather than later. But this isn't the only upset that he has had recently with the Camp Nou suits.

Footage of an upset Neymar when being subbed was still on the news when Jordi Mestre, the club's vice-president, added fuel to the already raging fire by saying, "I don't know why he took Neymar off. He'd had a great game and scored with an outstanding free-kick."

Mestre's comments have not gone down well at the club, and especially not with Luis Enrique and his assistants, although statements were later issued saying that the tone used by Mestre wasn't critical but merely descriptive.
