NBA: Jahlil Okafor Unhappy Over Father's Criticism Of Sixers

Jahlil Okafor seems not to be happy with his dad after his father gave a sixers fan a condition for taking a picture with him.

Philadelphia big man Jahlil Okafor also had to deal with dad stuff. Michael Weber, a screenwriter and Sixers fan, attended the game against the Clippers at the Staples Center and tweeted that Okafor's dad, Chuck, heckled coach Brett Brown until his son told him to stop. Weber then posed for a selfie with Chuck, who had him cover the face of general manager Sam Hinkie on his T-shirt.

After a series of troubles that has appeared to affect his performance on the court,  76ers rookie Jahlil Okafor hopes to save his first NBA season.

"When it first happened it was clear that his world was rocked in the biggest way, I'm assuming, of his sporting life," Sixers coach Brett Brown told Yahoo Sports. "You can see it in his eyes, his demeanor. His swagger got bumped around a little bit. We explained a lot. 'We all go through mistakes. Don't beat yourself up. You screwed up. We got people here that will help you. Time will pass.'

"I feel what I see now is a distant memory. It's taught all of us and I see him playing basketball again."

NBA: Jahlil Okafor Has "Gone Through A Hell Of A Hard Time" - Brett Brown

Philadelphia 76ers head coach Brett Brown acknowledged on Wednesday that rookie Jahlil Okafor has struggled since his altercation in Boston and subsequent suspension. Brown said that it would be "naive" to expect the big man to be unaffected by it, via the Philadelphia Inquirer's Keith Pompey:

"He's gone through a hell of a hard time," coach Brett Brown said. "I'm sure the hardest time of his life. To think that's not going to impact how you play in front of 18,000 people and go be on national TV again and go put yourself out there where you are scrutinized on your performance is quite naive, I think."

Okafor wouldn't call it a slump, but he's averaged 10.5 points and shot 31 percent over the four games he's played since the news of the fight two weeks ago. In fairness to him, he's played against teams with good defensive big men: the Houston Rockets, Memphis Grizzlies, Los Angeles Lakers and San Antonio Spurs, though Tim Duncan sat out in Monday's game.

NBA: College Coach Defends Jahlil Okafor After Suspension

Based on recent negative developments the sixers suspended Jahlil Okafor for two matches. His college coach has come out to defend the young lad by insisting that Okafor can make mistakes has a teenager. The coach thinks that Okafor is one of the greatest kids in the game.

Suspended for two games due to his recent off-court actions, Philadelphia 76ers rookie Jahlil Okafor has now developed a bit off a bad reputation. At 19, Okafor is still a teenager so these could be just youthful mistakes by the Sixers rookie. At least that's what his fomer college coach, Duke's Mike Krzyzewski thinks.

NBA: Sixers Suspend Jahlil Okafor For Two Games

After being involved in series of troubles, the trouble boy who has also struggled on the pitch of play has been suspended by his club as punishment for bad behavior.

There has been a lot made about Philadelphia 76ers rookie Jahlil Okafor on the court with his incredible production, but more disappointing has been what has transpired off the court. Reckless driving, an incident that reportedly led to a gun being pulled on Okafor, and the rookie getting into a fight in a night out in Boston have marred what has been a good season individually on the court.

The Sixers have decided to suspend Okafor for two games, effective immediately, due to his recent actions. Okafor recently apologized, but the team apparently feels the need to reprimand him in the manner of removing him from the team for a couple of contests.

76ers 103-91 Lakers: Troubled Jahlil Okafor Struggles In First Win Of The Season

Okafor who has recently found himself in trouble off field has also struggled onfield. Okafor has been poor as a rookie and has had 18 straight loses with the Sixers since the start of the season. Jahlil's 76ers finally won their 1st match against Kobe Byrant's Lakers but the young star had a low performance.

Jahlil Okafor struggled again despite Tuesday's 103-91 win against the Lakers. He finished with just 12 points on 6-of-14 shooting to go along with five rebounds over 30 minutes.

NBA: Jahlil Okafor Caught Over Reckless Driving

Jahlil Okafor seems to be facing several problems at the same time. Reports have revealed that the basketball star was arrested early this month for reckless driving. Okafor was recently accused of a street fight some days ago but the Igbo Nigerian has come out to appologise.

Philadelphia 76ers rookie Jahlil Okafor is currently being investigated for allegedly assaulting a man in Boston late on Wednesday night. This was not Okafor's first run-in with the law. In October, a gun was pointed at the Sixers rookie outside of a Philadelphia night club. According to the Philadelphia Inquirer's Keith Pompey, Okafor had a third incident involving police in early November.

From Pompey reports four sources independently confirmed to the The Inquirer the 76ers center was pulled over on the Ben Franklin Bridge around three weeks ago for 108 miles-per-hour. Anything over 40MPH is considered reckless driving.
