FIFA Scandal: FIFA Suspends Sepp Blatter, Michel Platini & Others

After various critics and FIFA sponsors have urged the body to suspend Blatter and his allies the body has risen to the occasion by  suspending the FIFA president and his most likely successor Michel Platini.

Sepp Blatter, Michel Platini and Jerome Valcke have officially been handed 90-day bans by the Fifa Ethics Committee.

Along with the powerful trio, Chung Mong-joon, a South Korean official who has served as vice president of Fifa, has been banned for six years and fined £67,924.

Probe: FIFA Set To Handover Jerome Valcke Emails

Swiss prosecutors said Thursday that Fifa have agreed to hand over the emails of suspended secretary general Jerome Valcke.

Access to the emails had been demanded by Switzerland's Attorney General Michael Lauber as part of his probe into corruption allegations surrounding the bidding process for the 2018 and 2022 World Cups.

Valcke was Fifa president Sepp Blatter's right-hand man until his suspension last week over accusations that he agreed to let World Cup tickets be sold at vastly inflated prices.

Blatter To Face Media For The First Time Since He Announced He Will Step Down

Blatter and secretary general Jerome Valcke will both take part in a media conference after an executive committee meeting which will set the date for the extraordinary FIFA Congress and presidential election, FIFA said on Monday.

The 79-year-old was elected for a fifth term as FIFA president on May 29 but announced four days later that he would lay down his mandate and call a fresh election where he would not be a candidate.
