Capital One Cup: I Couldn't Watch The Penalty Against Stoke - Jurgen Klopp

Dr Klopp could not afford to watch Liverpool take on Stoke City in a penalty shoot out in the Capital One Cup semi-finals in which the Reds saw their advantage equaled by a provoking Stoke.

Jurgen Klopp revealed only the the first five penalty takers were decided for Liverpool in the shootout against Stoke so Joe Allen took the initiative in sudden death to seal Liverpool’s place in the League Cup final.

An offside Marko Arnautovic goal put the visitors level on aggregate at Anfield following Jordon Ibe’s winner in the reverse fixture. Penalties were needed to settle the encounter and the Reds edged matters from the spot 6-5 with Simon Mignolet saving efforts from Mark Muniesa and Peter Crouch before Allen converted the decisive kick.

Capital One Cup Review: Boro Defeat United, Klopp Gets 1st Win As City Progress

Wayne Rooney failed to convert a penalty as Manchester United lost 3-1 on spot-kicks to second-tier Middlesbrough in the League Cup on Wednesday, while Jurgen Klopp's Liverpool edged Bournemouth.

After 120 goalless minutes at Old Trafford, the fourth-round tie went to penalties and with Rooney, Michael Carrick and Ashley Young all fluffing their lines, Championship side Middlesbrough pulled off a famous win.

United followed holders Chelsea and Arsenal in exiting the competition, while Middlesbrough set up a home quarterfinal with Everton.

Premier League Round Up: Man City On Top As Jurgen Klopp Draws Again

Manchester City returned to the Premier League summit after a 0-0 draw against arch rivals Manchester United, while Jurgen Klopp was dramatically denied his first win as Liverpool boss in a 1-1 draw with Southampton.

A forgettable 170th Manchester derby yielded only two shots on target at Old Trafford, but that was enough to return City to the top of the table on goal difference above Arsenal, with United two points back in fourth place.

Manuel Pellegrini's City could point to the absence of injured duo Sergio Aguero and David Silva, which partly explained why their attack ran dry after a flood of 11 goals in two league games.

The former Borussia Dortmund coach replaces Brendan Rodgers on Merseyside and has set out his philosophy for how he will go about bringing success back to the club.

Jurgen Klopp Set To Be Unveiled As Liverpool Manager

Jurgen Klopp agreed on Thursday to become troubled Liverpool's new manager and was expected at the club later in the day, British media said.

The English Premier League side have been looking for a new boss since Brendan Rodgers was sacked on Sunday. The former Borussia Dortmund coach had been the hot favourite from the start.

Liverpool did not confirm the reports but called a press conference for "a major club announcement" on Friday morning when Klopp, 48, was expected to be presented.

Liverpool: Jurgen Klopp Emerges As Clear Favourite To Replace Sacked Brendan Rodgers

Jurgen Klopp has emerged as the clear front runner for the Anfield hot seat, with Liverpool hoping to appoint the German as a replacement for sacked manager Brendan Rodgers by the end of the week, British media reported.

The former Borussia Dortmund coach is favourite to take over from the Northern Irishman, with ex-Chelsea boss Carlo Ancelotti also in the frame.

Klopp is understood to be open to the idea of a move, the reports said, adding that talks between Liverpool and his representatives were progressing well.

Klopp, Ancelotti Tops Liverpool's List

Jurgen Klopp and Carlo Ancelotti are the leading candidates to succeed sacked Liverpool manager Brendan Rodgers, according to reports in the British media on Monday.

Rodgers, 42, was sacked on Sunday after a 1-1 draw with Everton left Liverpool 10th in the Premier League table, albeit only three points below the Champions League places, following a sixth-place finish last season.

Klopp, 48, has been out of work since stepping down at Borussia Dortmund at the end of last season, while 56-year-old Ancelotti, who previously worked in England with Chelsea, was sacked by Real Madrid last May.

Jurgen Klopp Turns Down Olympic Marseille Offer

Marseille have been dealt an early blow in their attempts to replace former coach Marcelo Bielsa.

Jurgen Klopp's agent says his client will not be taking over at Marseille, despite the Ligue 1 club's interest in appointing the former Borussia Dortmund coach.

The start of Marseille's season was thrown into chaos on Saturday when Marcelo Bielsa resigned following defeat to Caen on the opening weekend of the French top flight.

Manchester United have made Jurgen Klopp their No.1 target to replace David Moyes at Old Trafford, Goal can reveal.

The Borussia Dortmund manager is United's top choice to take over from the Scot, who is set to be sacked just 11 months after being appointed Sir Alex Ferguson's successor.

We understands that Klopp's camp has already been sounded out by the United hierarchy. He is believed to have initially held reservations about the post but sources have said the 46-year-old has subsequently had a change of heart and there is growing confidence at Old Trafford that he could be persuaded to move to the Premier League.

Jurgen Klopp Is Fans Favourite To Become Barca's Next Coach

The coach of the moment, the man who led Borussia Dortmund to last year's Champions League final, is the Camp Nou faithfuls' favourite to coach the Catalan giants for the 2014/15 season.

Jürgen Klopp is the fans' favourite to take over as Barça coach next season, according to MARCA.com's most recent poll. The German received 31.3% of the votes, ahead of Pep Guardiola with 21.4% and Luis Enrique (16%), whilst 13.4% surprisingly voted for Tata to stay on at the club.

Manchester United are already planning for major shake-ups next season, not only will the club ship out players but if need be the unimpressive David Moyes could get the boot.

From the rumor mill though, Dortmund’s Manager, Jurgen Klopp has been  linked to the United job and stands as favorite to replace the Scot. The German is admired for his style and consistency since taking the reigns of Die Schwarzgelben.

Barcelona and Arsenal are two notable names looking in the direction of the 46-year-old should he choose to opt out of his contract with the 2012 Bundesliga Champions; Klopp signed an extension till 2018 and has stressed he will see it through.
