U-17 World Cup 2017 Qualifier: Nigeria Draw Algeria, Libya & Others

U17 world champions Nigeria will begin another continental quest when they face next-door neigbours Niger in a second round qualifier in August, but their qualifying pool also has Algeria, Libya and Gabon.

Algeria and Libya will do battle in the first round between June and July, before they face Gabon in the second round in August.

The overall winners will then battle the winners of the clash between Nigeria and Niger in September to determine the qualifier for the tournament to be staged by Madagascar in April 2017.

Oliseh claimed his first victory has the coach of the Super Eagles of Nigeria after defeating Niger. Though Niger is a low ranked side the special candidate sees the moment as a moment to build on.

Nigeria claimed the first win of Sunday Oliseh's tenure on Tuesday as they saw off Niger in a 2-0 friendly victory at the Adokiye Amiesimaka Stadium.

Former Eagles ace Oliseh took charge in July and saw his spell at the helm get off to a disappointing start with a goalless draw against Tanzania earlier this month.

Friendly: Super Eagles To Play Lowly Rated Niger On September 8

All things being equal, the Senior Men National Team, Super Eagles, will take on the Mena of Niger in an international friendly match in Port Harcourt on Tuesday, September 8.

NFF General Secretary, Dr. Mohammed Sanusi, told thenff.com on Monday that discussions are on-going with the Rivers State Government to have the match at the Adokiye Amiesiamaka Stadium – the venue where the U-23 team defeated Congo 2-1 in an Africa U-23 Cup of Nations qualifier on July 19.

“We are holding talks with the Rivers State Government, and the NFF is positive that the Super Eagles and Mena will play at the Amiesiamaka Stadium on September 8.
