Super Eagles Set To Get $40,000 From Rivers State After Beating Swaziland

Ahead of the match in Port Harcourt between Nigeria and Swaziland the Rivers state Government announced a cash reward of $20,000 per goal for the Super Eagles.

The Eagles did not disappoint and one could be right in accepting that the boys were motivated. Everyone gunned for the Eagles to score and Oliseh's men didn't turn the fans down they scored two goals which simply means the Eagles will grab $40,000 from the Rivers state government.

Nigeria 2-0 Swaziland: Moses Simon, Efe Ambrose Nets Eagles To Victory

The super eagles of Nigeria broke the deadlock against Swaziland in the 51st minute of play when Moses Simon curled in a superb free kick from about 26 yards.

The Shilangus parked the bus in their own defence and denied the eagles of any good chance in the first half with the best attempt coming from Odion Ighalo which he kicked off target. The King Shield however got a super attempt in the first half after they played a set piece into the box of the Super Eagles.

During the half time break Daniel Amokachi said "it seems the god of football is on the side of the eagles, that attempt from the Shilangus should have been a goal but it seems Nigeria was fortunate not to have conceded that goal".

Nigeria vs Swaziland: Oliseh Relegates Mikel Obi To Bench

Coach Sunday Oliseh has dropped Chelsea star Mikel Obi to the bench and preferring to start Sunshine Stars Paul Onobi, for today’s World Cup qualifier match against Swaziland.

Onobi has been outstanding for the country’s home-based team who recently qualified for the CHAN in Rwanda next year.

He is expected to bring his creativity to a midfield which was short of that in Lobambo on Friday in a disappointing goalless draw.

Nigeria will be playing Swaziland for the first time. Swaziland is a country located in the southern part of Africa with a low population of over 1.3 million. Swaziland thinks they are the underdog and most football lovers are of the opinion that the Eagles should be able to fly through.

Swaziland shocked Guinea 2-1 in an AFCON qualifier in June and they will be gunning for another famous win against a team coach Harries Bulunga calls “the Nigerian giants” when both sides clash on Friday in a 2018 World Cup eliminator.

Swaziland 30-year-old captain Tony Tsabedze, who has posted spells in neigbouring South Africa, scored twice in Casablanca against a team who reached the last-eight of this year’s AFCON in Equatorial Guinea.

Djibouti Or Swaziland - Dangerous Opponents For Super Eagles Says Ahmed Musa

Nigeria have been drawn in the second round of the 2018 World Cup qualifying tournament with minnows Djibouti or Swaziland, but Ahmed Musa has warned either team could pose a danger to the Super Eagles quest to feature at the global championship in Russia.

Ahmed Musa plays for top Russian club CSKA and he told AfricanFootball.com the overall winners of the match-up between Djibouti and Swaziland must not be taken lightly by the star-studded three-time African champions when they clash in November.

"Looking at the name of the teams, Djibouti and Swaziland, they ought not to be a match for us, but such opponents are more dangerous that the known teams,” cautioned Ahmed Musa, who marked his World cup debut last year with a brace against Argentina.

Super Eagles will get their 2017 Fifa World Cup qualifying campaign under way with  against the winner between Djibouti and Swaziland later on this year following a draw conducted in St Petersburg on Saturday.

The qualifiers are divided into three rounds, with the first round being made up of the 26 lowest ranked teams in Africa. The second round sees 13 winners of the first round matches proceeding to the second round where they compete with 27 other countries over two legs for a place in the group stages.

Nigeria will play her Djibouti or Swaziland in November over two legs, with the winner going through to the group stages. The group winners will then qualify for the 2018 World Cup in Russia.
