Diego Godin Rejects City's €40m Offer

Diego Godin has rejected Manchester City’s 40m euro offer, MARCA report tonight.

The Uruguyan is Manuel Pellegrini’s number 1 defensive transfer target this summer, but City will now have to look elsewhere for defensive reinforcements, as Godin has turned down the offer and is ready to commit his future to Atletico Madrid.

Manchester City were ready to pay the Uruguayan’s buyout clause of 40m – a huge sum to pay for a 29-year-old defender – but Godin has remained loyal to Diego Simeone, and is even ready to extend his current contract, which finishes in 2018.

Chelsea Plot To Raid Atletico With €100m Offer For Diego Costa, Felipe Luis & Diego Godin

Chelsea are set to raid Atletico Madrid and add Diego Costa, Felipe Luis and Diego Godin to their squad for a combined €100m, according to Spanish site AS.

If this turns out to be true, it could mean that Chelsea will take five players from Atletico over the summer with Tiago Mendes and potential returning loanee Thibaut Courtois also coming back.

Rumours abound that Chelsea may loan Romelu Lukaku to Atletico if that is the case, but with David Villa also departing it leaves manager Diego Simeone with a potential rebuilding job on his hands.
