Angel Can Inspire FA Cup Glory - Ryan Giggs

Angel Di Maria, whose form has declined since his British record transfer from Real Madrid to Manchester United, can still play an important role in his side's quest for success this season, according to assistant manager Ryan Giggs.

The 27-year-old Argentine became the most expensive player signed by a British club when he joined United for 59.7 million pounds ($90.3 million) last year but after scoring three times in his first five league matches, he has not found the net since January.

Van Gaal Set For Premier League Debut Against Swansea

For the second season in a row, Manchester United kick off their Premier League campaign against Swansea City and under a new manager.

After 27 years with Alex Ferguson at the helm, the Old Trafford club dismissed successor David Moyes just 10 months into his contract as they careered towards a seventh-placed finish in the Premier League last term - their lowest in the competition's history.

Ryan Giggs saw out the season in the United hot seat on an interim basis, but the onus now falls on former Netherlands coach Louis van Gaal to lead the club out of what are - by their own exalted standards - dark times.

Louis Van Gaal Accepts Deal To Become Manchester United's Manager

Louis van Gaal has agreed a deal to become the new manager of Manchester United, talkSPORT understands. The Dutchman, who will take charge of his country at the World Cup in Brazil, has been the favourite to take the job ever since David Moyes was sacked.

And the fine details have been sorted out for him to take charge at Old Trafford after the tournament in Brazil. Sources close to talkSPORT believe interim manager Ryan Giggs will be staying at the club as part of the Dutchman’s coaching staff.

Van Gaal, 62, has won league titles in Holland, Spain and Germany with Ajax, Barcelona and Bayern Munich respectively, and also won the Champions League with the Dutch giants in 1995.

RYAN GIGGS: Manchester United Team Good Enough To Win Titles

Ryan Giggs insists the current Manchester United squad is good enough to challenge for titles, despite approaching the end of their worst ever Premier League campaign.

The reigning champions have slumped to seventh in the table and look highly unlikely to qualify for Europe following a 1-0 defeat at Old Trafford to relegation-threatened Sunderland last weekend.

"I have seen enough from this position to convince me that the next manager will be inheriting a squad capable of winning honours," he said in his programme notes ahead of the visit of Hull City on Tuesday.

Ryan Giggs Hints At Possibility Of Leaving Manchester United

Ryan Giggs has suggested he may have to leave Manchester United in order to further his managerial career.
The 40-year-old is currently in interim charge at Old Trafford following David Moyes' sacking last month. He won his first match 4-0 over Norwich City but lost to Sunderland at Old Trafford on Saturday.

"I can only play for United. It's black and white, and it's not about money," he told reporters.
"I've been extremely lucky in that I have only ever worked at United, but I am still a young man in relative terms in management.

"I could have another 20 to 25 years in the game – and it might not all be spent at United. If I went elsewhere it would be strange, but I can see myself doing that.

MAN UNITED 0 SUNDERLAND 1: Black Cats Shock Reds In Race For Survival As Giggs Loses First Match

Despite dominating the ball for the first 30 minutes, United fell victim to Larsson who steered home after being played in by Connor Wickham.

Sunderland continued to surrender possession but United were unable to create any sort of chances as the Black Cats sat deep and remained tight.

Ryan Giggs With Not Be Given Permanent United Role Even If He Wins All Remaining Matches

Ryan Giggs will definitely not be Manchester United’s manager, say the Manchester Evening News on Sunday.

Journalist Mike Keegan has penned an article over the weekend which categorically rules out any thoughts that Giggs could succeed David Moyes in the Old Trafford dugout saying the Welshman will end his tenure at the end of the campaign even if he wins all his games in charge.

The M.E.N report:
Ryan Giggs will not be considered as a permanent replacement for David Moyes – even if United win all of their remaining matches this season.

MANCHESTER UNITED: Rooney Baccks Giggs After Dream Debut

Ryan Giggs was in dreamland on Saturday night after leading Manchester United to a 4-0 win over Norwich on his managerial debut.

United put Giggs in temporary charge of the team on Tuesday following the sacking of David Moyes, who was dismissed just 10 months into his six-year contract.

The Welshman vowed to restore the positivity to the club following his appointment, and that was certainly the case on Saturday as Wayne Rooney and Juan Mata both scored twice in a comfortable win.

Ryan Giggs Wants To Be Man United's Permanent Coach

Giggs did not look out of his depth when he addressed the media on Friday for the first time since being appointed. The former Wales international is pledging to bring back the style of play that United are renowned for - a high-tempo game of rapid attacking football and clinical finishing.

The United board see Giggs as a potential manager of the club a few years down the line, but they are currently searching for a more experienced successor to David Moyes, with Louis van Gaal and Carlo Ancelotti high on their wishlist.

But plenty United fans want Giggs to take the role on now despite his lack of managerial experience.
There are many examples of younger managers who have fallen by the wayside because of a lack of experience, but Barcelona took a gamble on Pep Guardiola and he delivered 14 trophies in four seasons.

RYAN GIGGS: I Have No Rift With David Moyes

Giggs' appearance at the pre-match press conference suggests the 40-year-old could start on Tuesday, and the midfielder played down talk of a rift between him and manager David Moyes.

He said: "There is no problem with the manager; I don't know where that came from. The relationship is good.

"Of course as a player you want to play all the time. I normally play every two or three weeks to get the best out of me. The last game was probably my first for seven weeks but you are not sulking, you just have to be ready to play your best for the team."

CHRIS COLEMAN: Super Gareth Bale Will Surpass Ryan Giggs

Wales boss Chris Coleman believes that Gareth Bale will surpass the accomplishments of Manchester United legend Ryan Giggs. The Red Devils winger retired from international duty with the Dragons in 2007 and was widely regarded as one of his country's best ever players.

However, after watching Bale score a magnificent solo goal as well as notch up two assists against Iceland on Wednesday, Coleman was blown over by the Real Madrid man's ability.

The 43-year-old coach beamed to reporters: "What Gareth does on the pitch is extraordinary. With him in our team we always know we have a real chance and he proved that again.

RYAN GIGGS: Mata Can Become A Manchester United Legend

Ryan Giggs has tipped Manchester United’s record signing Juan Mata to become an Old Trafford great. Spain international Mata joined United for 37.1 million pounds in January and has played two games for the defending champions, notching up an assist in each.

Player-coach Giggs, who has made 959 appearances for United -- his only club -- and is the most decorated player in their history, is firmly established in the pantheon of United legends. He believes Mata has the ability to join those ranks, telling MUTV: "I think he could. He's obviously got the talent.
