MLS Match Report: Drogba Looses Debut Match, Toronto FC Trash Orlando & More

Sebastien Le Toux scored in the 78th minute and the Philadelphia Union beat Montreal 1-0 on Saturday night to spoil Didier Drogba’s debut for the Impact.

Drogba, the former Chelsea and Ivory Coast star, went into the game to a standing ovation in the 59th minute, but was unable to provide the spark for Montreal (8-10-4).

On the goal, Sapong lofted a pass to Eric Ayuk, whose shot was redirected in front by Le Toux for his sixth goal of the season.

Super Eagles Player Bright Dike Dumped By Toronto FC

Major League Soccer (MLS) side Toronto FC have released Nigeria international Bright Dike as they look to free up space on their rooster to acquire another striker.

Dike has been bedevilled by a series of injuries that has seen him play sparingly for the Toronto-based MLS side, scoring only one goal in 11 matches.

The 26-year-old, who was capped by former Super Eagles coach Stephen Keshi, was sent on loan by Toronto FC to lower tier side San Antonio Scorpions in the NASL but they have decided to cut their losses.

SUPER EAGLES: Injury Rules Bright Dike Out Of World Cup

Nigeria striker Bright Dike has seen what was shaping up to be a dream 2014 turn into a nightmare after suffering a torn Achilles in training with Toronto FC, sources confirmed to Goal USA on Monday.

The injury comes almost two years after Dike suffered a torn Achilles with the Portland Timbers. He worked his way back from that injury and played well enough to attract the attention of the Nigerian national team. Dike had been expected to play a key role for Toronto FC in 2014, and was a candidate for Nigeria's World Cup team, but the latest injury has put an end to those possibilities for the 27-year-old striker.
