Drogba Denies Retiring From Football

Drogba has been offered the back room Chelsea job from the days of Jose Mourinho but the Ivorian has insisted that he hasn't taken the job.

Chelsea declined to comment on a report by French sports daily L'Equipe on Wednesday night which stated Drogba was quitting playing in Major League Soccer to return to London.

And the 37-year-old, who has a year to run on his contract with the Canadians, said discussions were ongoing over his future.

No Drogba-Chelsea Deal - Montreal Impact

News broke out yesterday that Roman Abramovich has reached out to Montreal Impact striker Didier Drogba to help save the blues season but the MLS club has denied the report.

The Montreal Impact on Friday denied that striker Didier Drogba had been contacted about a return to English Premier League club Chelsea, in turmoil since sacking manager Jose Mourinho.

"The rumour about Didier Drogba is unfounded," Major League Soccer's Impact posted on their official Twitter account. "No contact has been made with the club or him."

Drogba, the former Chelsea and Ivory Coast star, went into the game to a standing ovation in the 59th minute, but was unable to provide the spark for Montreal (8-10-4).

On the goal, Sapong lofted a pass to Eric Ayuk, whose shot was redirected in front by Le Toux for his sixth goal of the season.

With Didier Drogba set to make his Major Soccer League debut for Montreal Impact this weekend, reports suggest that tickets are already sold out.

According to MLS Soccer website, the match between Montreal Impact and Philadelphia Union this coming Saturday will be played in front of a sell out crowd of 20, 801 spectators.

The Cote D’Ivoire legend left Chelsea at the end of the 2014/15 EPL season and is set to continue to scoring goals for the MLS outfit.

Drogba Looking Forward To The Beautiful MLS Challenge

Didier Drogba said he is looking forward to the "beautiful challenge" of finishing his career in Major League Soccer after being unveiled before hundreds of Montreal Impact fans on Thursday.

The veteran Ivory Coast and former Chelsea icon addressed a crowd of fans at Montreal's Saputo Stadium, a day after jetting into the Canadian city after wrapping up his MLS move earlier this week.

"I am a man of challenges and there is a beautiful one before me," Drogba said alongside Impact President Joey Saputo.

Former Chelsea striker Didier Drogba has been mobbed by fans at his arrival in Montreal after signing for local MLS club the Impact.

Drogba posted a video on Twitter of a packed arrivals hall at Montreal-Trudeau International Airport on Wednesday, with fans held back by security guards, and the 37-year-old forward in the foreground, nodding at the camera with a satisfied look on his face.

Drogba Perfect For Montreal

Didier Drogba's winning mentality is not the only reason Montreal Impact went after the former Ivory Coast international. Montreal Impact sporting director Nick De Santis declared Didier Drogba "the perfect fit" for his club after signing the former Chelsea striker.

Under MLS's unique transfer rules, Drogba first joined Chicago Fire on Monday but was immediately traded to the Impact for "general and targeted allocation money".

Having only qualified for the MLS play-offs in one of their three previous seasons, De Santis made it clear that Drogba's history of success - four Premier League titles and the 2012 UEFA Champions League with Chelsea, plus the Turkish Super Lig with Galatasaray - would be key for Montreal.

Chicago Fire Signs Didier Drogba

Former Chelsea striker Didier Drogba has signed for Chicago Fire, who have subsequently traded him to Montreal Impact. Speculation had been rife about Drogba's next destination after leaving Stamford Bridge, with the man himself confirming earlier this month that he was in talks with an MLS outfit.

On Monday, it was announced that Fire had acquired his services, "acquiring general and targeted allocation money" from Impact in exchange for Drogba.

Drogba penned a one-year deal when he rejoined Chelsea in July and wants to play on into 2015-16.
When quizzed by the Daily Telegraph about whether he has reached a decision regarding his future, he replied: "I have made a decision, yes. And no, it's not my last season."
