Brown Ideye was a record transfer for West Brom when he signed in 2014 but the Nigerian international failed to live up to expectation. He looked sharp towards the end of last season but has not come close this season. It was recently rumoured that West Brom will dispose one of the two Nigerians at their disposal. Rondon, a club-record £12million signing from Zenit, was ineligible for Monday's 3-0 Premier League loss to Manchester City.

But the signing of the 25-year-old is likely to lead to departures, with one of – or both – of Ideye and Anichebe potentially leaving.

Out of favour Super Eagles strikers, John Utaka and Victor Anichebe scored for their clubs on Saturday in the Turkish and English top flights. Victor Anichebe was a second half substitute in England at The Hawthorns when he came off the bench to score for West Brom but his team went down 4-1 at home to struggling Queens Park Rangers.

West Brom are now 14th on the English Premier League table with 33 points from 31 games after Saturday’s defeat. The former Everton forward scored in the 58th minute when he headed home Saido Berahino’s cross, just 12 minutes after he was introduced into the game in place of Stephane Sessegnon.

Nigerian striker, Victor Anichebe is pleased to have scored for West Bromwich Albion in Tuesday’s Barclays English Premier League game against Chelsea. Anichebe struck in the 87th minute after out-foxing the Chelsea defence to head home Saido Berahino’s pin point delivery from the left. The forward voiced his delight at helping the Baggies rescue a point against the leaders of the Premier League.

“I was happy to get the goal. It didn’t matter who scored it, it was just important we got a result.

"It was a great ball by Saido. I managed to get in front of the defender and it went it.

WEST BROM 1 LIVERPOOL 1: Anichebe Scores To Earn Draw

Nigeria striker Victor Anichebe came off the bench to earn West Brom a point in a 1-1 home draw against Liverpool on Sunday. Anichebe was on the pitch barely four minutes before he found the target in a second half spell that West Brom put fourth placed Liverpool under pressure to deny them a chance to replace Chelsea in third spot for at least 24 hours.

Liverpool were stunned in the 67th minute when Anichebe intercepted a horrendous Kolo Toure back pass to bang in the ball leaving the Ivoirian frozen after his criminal act. West Brom goalkeeper Ben Forest was inspired throughout the second half and in the 78th minute stepped up to clear a Daniel Sturridge ball with the Liverpool striker bearing down on West Broms goal.

ALLEN: Anichebe far from good

Victor Anichebe has come under some harsh criticism from former Leicester City Manager, Martin Allen.
