Having seen Neymar fail to convert a penalty, Barcelona coach Luis Enrique said Lionel Messi was still his first-choice spot-kick taker. Barcelona coach Luis Enrique was unsure why Neymar took his team's penalty against Villarreal on Wednesday, insisting Lionel Messi is still first choice.

Despite the Brazilian's missed spot-kick, Barcelona claimed a 3-1 win over Villarreal in their Copa del Rey semi-final first leg. Luis Enrique said Neymar must have decided with Messi to take the penalty, but had no doubts the Argentina international was still his main man from the spot.

Rejected Ikechukwu Uche Happy To End Season As Villareal's Top Scorer

With one game to go in the Spanish La Liga, rejected Super Eagles striker, Ikechukwu Uche says he is happy to end the season as his club,Villareal's top scorer.

The Nigerian, left out of Nigeria's provisional World Cup squad list by Stephen Keshi scored his 13th goal of the season on Saturday in his club's 4-0 bashing of Rayo Vallecano and said he was delighted to be the Yellow Submarine's goaleador.

''I'm happy to be Villareal's top scorer this season.It was not down to me alone but also the work done by my teammates',said Uche who acknowledged he has had a very great season despite making occasion trips to the club's medics to treat injuries.

LA LIGA: Smoke Bomb Interrupts Villareal - Celta Vigo Match

A smoke bomb with effects similar to tear gas was thrown onto the pitch of El Madrigal Stadium and forced the game between host Villarreal and Celta Vigo to be temporarily stopped on Saturday.

The device was thrown in the 87th minute, causing fans to stream toward the exits and players to ask for water as it apparently irritated their eyes. A public announcer asked the spectators to evacuate.

Celta was leading 1-0 when the game was interrupted after Fabian Orellana's score in the 83rd minute. The game was restarted after a 20-minute delay for the smoke to clear and Celta's Manuel "Nolito'' Agudo scored off a free kick in the 90th minute to give the visitors a 2-0 victory.

LA LIGA: Real Madrid Go Top As Atletico Lose

Gareth Bale and Jese each scored and set up goals for Karim Benzema in Real Madrid's 4-2 win over Villarreal on Saturday, pulling Madrid level on points with their city rivals Atletico at the top of La Liga.

With leading scorer Cristiano Ronaldo serving the first match of a three-game suspension, Bale shone by opening the scoring in the seventh minute at the Santiago Bernabeu. Bale seemed particularly eager to take charge with Ronaldo out and after returning from a leg injury that sidelined him for two matches.

Defender Jose Dorado unwisely tried to dribble around Bale instead of passing to a nearby teammate. The Wales winger pounced on his clumsy touch to steal the ball, press forward unchallenged, and coolly chip helpless goalkeeper Sergio Asenjo.

Villarreal pushed themselves into an early lead through Uche, but it was Almería who dominated much of the game and despite having the majority of chances on goal throughout the encounter, they just couldn’t find an equaliser. A penalty from Soriano sentenced the game, three minutes from the end.

Uche’s double helped his side beat Real Sociedad 5-1. He scored Villarreal's second goal of the game in the 27th minute and completed his brace in the 55th minute to give his team 4-0 lead.
