Villarreal pushed themselves into an early lead through Uche, but it was Almería who dominated much of the game and despite having the majority of chances on goal throughout the encounter, they just couldn’t find an equaliser. A penalty from Soriano sentenced the game, three minutes from the end.

Uche appeared to be in an offside position when he latched on to Giovani dos Santos’s pass in the third minute but still kept his composure before firing past the Almeria goalkeeper, Esteban Suarez.
Sunday’s win was enough to lift Villarreal up to fourth on the league standings behind FC Barcelona, Real Madrid and Atletico Madrid.
The striker who has been in great form this season has now scored 12 goals for the Yellow Submarine in the league.
It was his 12th goal of the season and his sixth in his last three matches for the club.
The 30-year-old has a shot conversion rate of 52 percent which means that of the eight top scorers in La Liga this term, he has the best record.
He is now the third top scorer in the league. Only Cristiano Ronaldo (Real Madrid, 21 goals) and Diego Costa (Atletico Madrid, 19 goals) have scored more than the former Real Zaragoza striker.
Uche has now scored 34 goals in La Liga following previous stints with Recreativo Huelva, Getafe, Real Zaragoza and Granada.
