Former Super Eagles coach Samson Siasia has predicted that the Home Super Eagles currently participating at African Nations Championships (CHAN) would bring back the coveted trophy.
Speaking after the Super Eagles great comeback victory over Morocco in the quarter final of the CHAN in Cape Town at the weekend, Siasia said the boys were wonderful in coming back from three goals down to win 4-3 at extra time.
He said the boys showed with their performance that they are capable of winning the CHAN cup, adding that Super Eagles have after a poor start, raised their game and are now rated as favourites to win the third edition of the championship.
"If the team remains focus and continue to improve as they have done after their opening game which they lost 1-2 to Mali, I don't see any team stopping them from winning the cup in South Africa
He continued "the boys have shown that Nigeria is blessed with talents with their performance at CHAN and that they can compete with their foreign based counterpart in Europe for a place in the World Cup bound team."
The former national team striker stated that Coach Stephen Keshi would be faced with the dilemma of selection because of the performance of the home boys stressing that the Europe based players would sweat to make the World Cup team.
