Echiejile Wins With Monaco

Elderson Echiejile got off to a great start at Monaco as he featured in a 3-0 win over Chasselay in the French Cup on Wednesday. He played the full match as Monaco turned on the style against non-league Chasselay, who paraded former Monaco star Ludovic Guily.

Sporting jersey number 21, the former Rennes of France defender was outstanding as he marked and surged forward in his usual manner.

He will block a goal-bound shot for corner in the first half.

The game was moved away from the usual home ground named the Stade Ludovic Giuly, which only holds 5,000 fans, to a bigger stadium, Stade de Gerland, which is down the road in Lyon

The Eagles defender showed his new-found confidence when in the dying minutes of the cup tie he fired a shot at goal, which did not miss by much.

Colombia superstar Radamel Falcao opened scoring for Monaco after 29 minutes, before two more goals from Emmanuel Riviere in the 63rd and 72nd minutes.

Monaco are now through to the quarterfinals of the French Cup.
