FRENCH CUP: Sunday Mba Scores First Goal For Bastia

Nigerian midfielder, Sunday Mba scored his first goal for French second division club, CA Bastia on Tuesday night in the Coupe de France (French Cup).

Mba’s goal in the 89th minute-which pegged the scores at 2-2- was priceless as it forced Bastia’s round of 32 game against Niort at the Stade Armand Césari into extra time.

Bastia won the ensuing penalty shootout 5-4 to progress to the next round of the competition.

Mba was called to duty in the shoot out and he obliged as he scored Bastia’s fourth effort from twelve yards following previous successes by Alexandre Cropanese, Nicolas Di Fraya and Christophe Vincent.

Tuesday’s game was Mba’s third for the club and the first time he would play for the entire duration.

The 25-year-old was substituted in the Ligue 2 encounters against Niort on January 10 and Nancy on January 17.
