NFL: Fan Falls & Dies During Yankees-Braves Game

In the seventh inning of Saturday night's Yankees-Braves game at Turner Field, a man fell from the upper deck as Alex Rodriguez was being introduced as a pinch-hitter. He later died after being treated at the scene and transported to a local hospital.

A fan, Greg Shiver of Tennessee, who was attending the game with his son, said, “We were sitting in Row 6 and I just told him to watch for A-Rod. And then we heard a big thud. I saw a guy falling from the top. I grabbed my son and ran for security. He was bleeding pretty badly. I don't think he's gonna make it. And I don't have any clue how he fell.”

FORBES: Real Madrid Top Most Valuable Sports Team List

Real Madrid have been named the world's most valuable sports team by Forbes, edging Dallas Cowboys and New York Yankees into second and third respectively.

The Spanish football powerhouse lead the Forbes list of the 50 most valuable sports franchises for the third consecutive year, although Forbes pegs their value at $3.26 billion, down slightly from last year.

The Cowboys and Yankees are next at $3.2 billion, with each franchise making a big jump from last year's projection.

BASEBALL: Masahiro Tanaka Signs $155 million Seven Years Contract With Yankees

The Yankees spent much of 2013 scouting right-hander Masahiro Tanaka in Japan. After seeing him go 24-0 with a 1.27 ERA, they came away convinced his stuff would translate to the major leagues.

On Wednesday, before Tanaka has thrown a major league pitch, they confirmed their conviction by signing the 25-year-old starter to a seven-year, $155 million contract, his agent, Casey Close, confirmed to ESPNNewYork.com

The contract includes an opt-out clause after the fourth year. The Yankees will pay Tanaka's Japanese team, the Rakuten Golden Eagles, a $20 million posting fee.
