NFL: Fan Falls & Dies During Yankees-Braves Game

In the seventh inning of Saturday night's Yankees-Braves game at Turner Field, a man fell from the upper deck as Alex Rodriguez was being introduced as a pinch-hitter. He later died after being treated at the scene and transported to a local hospital.

A fan, Greg Shiver of Tennessee, who was attending the game with his son, said, “We were sitting in Row 6 and I just told him to watch for A-Rod. And then we heard a big thud. I saw a guy falling from the top. I grabbed my son and ran for security. He was bleeding pretty badly. I don't think he's gonna make it. And I don't have any clue how he fell.”

The long summer saga that is Russell Wilson's contract situation is over. CBS Sports NFL Insider Jason La Canfora confirms Wilson and the Seahawks agreed to a four-year extension worth $87.6 million. The news was first reported by Peter King of TheMMQB.com and also confirmed by Wilson himself.

Wilson was set to make $1.5 million in base salary in the final year of his rookie contract and then become an unrestricted free agent; there's been roughly four million barbs back and forth between Seattle and Wilson's camp about the type of money he wants.

NFL: Seahawks Offered Rusell Wilson $21 million A Year

Russell Wilson, who is in the final year of his rookie deal, is set to make $1.54 million in 2015. Ideally, the quarterback would make a lot more than that. The issue, however, is that he and the Seahawks aren't (yet) on the same page when it comes to his value. We've heard everything from Wilson wants to be the NFL's highest paid quarterback and he wants to be in Seattle for a "really, really long time," to he "would definitely consider" playing both football and baseball in the future.

As it stands, the NFL's top-earning quarterbacks, on average, are Aaron Rodgers ($22.0 million), Ben Roethlisberger ($21.85 million), Cam Newton ($20.76 million), Matt Ryan ($20.75 million) and Joe Flacco ($20.1 million).

NFL: Connected Influential Owners Don`t Want Tom Brady`s Suspension Reduced

NFL commissioner Roger Goodell might be stuck between a rock and a hard place when it comes to Tom Brady. If Goodell doesn't reduce Brady's four-game Deflategate suspension, the quarterback's legal team and the NFLPA will likely take the NFL to court to get the suspension trimmed down to zero games.

On the other hand, if Goodell does reduce the four-game suspension, he could be in hot water with several NFL owners who don't want to see Brady's suspension reduced. That's right, several owners want Brady's suspension to stick.

According to ProFootballTalk, a "small handful of influential owners" want to see Brady's suspension stay at four games.

NFL: Greg Hardy's Suspension Reduced From Ten To Four Games

Now Hardy is set to return on Oct. 11 when the Cowboys face the Patriots. (Good one, NFL. Have Hardy make his debut against the team that has their own appeal pending with Tom Brady and the Deflategate melodrama.)

There's more good news for Hardy: As CBSSports.com's John Breech noted in March, a large portion of Hardy's contract is going to be paid out in "per-game" roster bonuses. For every regular-season game Hardy's on the Cowboys active roster this year, he'll make $578,125.

Tottenham To Hold Two NFL Games Per Year At New Stadium

There will be more NFL games in London after Tottenham announced a deal to host two a year at their new stadium. Tottenham have agreed a partnership with the NFL to host two games annually at their new stadium for 10 years.

The NFL has staged regular season games at Wembley Stadium since 2007 and held three games at the ground last season. There is optimism that the NFL will extend its agreement with Wembley beyond 2016, but the league has taken another step to further its international profile with the announcement of the deal with Tottenham on Wednesday.

NFL: I Would Take $5M Less To Keep Murray Says Romo

The pizza delivery man who was allegedly assaulted by D'Qwell Jackson on Tuesday says that Jackson threatened to kill him. The Colts linebacker was arrested Tuesday night and charged with simple assault after an incident in Washington, DC.

According to a police report obtained by the Washington Post, Jackson allegedly punched pizza delivery driver Jose Bonilla-Fuentes in the face because Bonilla-Fuentes parked in Jackson's spot. Jackson lives in an area that has assigned parking spaces and Bonilla-Fuentes had briefly parked in the spot so he could deliver a pizza.

NFL Set To Investigate Patriots For Deflating Balls

NFL spokesman Michael Signora told NFL Network the league is looking into the Patriots' apparent use of overly deflated footballs during Sunday's 45-7 AFC title game win over the Colts.

Midway through the game, a ball was taken off the field and out of circulation, Signora told Rapoport. NFL rules stipulate game balls must be inflated with between 12.5-13.5 pounds of air. Each team must provide 12 primary balls for testing prior to the game, NFL Network reports.

NFL: Adrian Peterson Suspended Without Pay For The Rest Of The Season

The NFL announced Tuesday morning that Adrian Peterson would be suspended without pay for the remainder of the 2014 season. The NFLPA announced plans to appeal the suspension and Peterson could seek other remedies. The union also added a surprising point, noting "an NFL executive told Adrian that his time on the commissioner's list would be considered as time served."

When Peterson was notified of his suspension, Roger Goodell issued a letter to the Vikings running back informing him how he'll be able to return to the league.

NFL: Newsome Testifies Ray Rice Told Goodell That He'd Hit Fiancee

Ravens general manager Ozzie Newsome has supported Ray Rice's story all along. Even after commissioner Roger Goodell said Rice's account following a physical altercation with his then-fiancee in an Atlantic City hotel elevator hadn't been consistent, Newsome said that Rice had told the truth to Newsome.

Newsome reportedly didn't change his story Thursday, because, according to ESPN's Don Van Natta, Newsome testified under oath that he heard Rice tell Goodell on June 16 that he had hit Janay Rice in that elevator.

Am Not Happy With Wembley Condition - Roy Hodgson

England manager Roy Hodgson said he is unhappy with the surface at Wembley, which will host an NFL game prior to a Euro 2016 qualifier. Hodgson's men, who top Group E in qualifying with maximum points from three games, host Slovenia on November 15, less than a week after the Dallas Cowboys and Jacksonville Jaguars do battle in London on Sunday.

The 67-year-old said he felt the surface was already below standard acceptable for international football, and said he was seeking a solution - despite Wembley officials announcing another three NFL matches will be played at the venue in 2015.

NFL: Todd Gurley Suspended Indefinitely Over Violation Of NCAA Rules

The University of Georgia has suspended star running back Todd Gurley indefinitely. The school didn't go into specifics regarding the suspension but said in a press release that an "ongoing investigation into an alleged violation of NCAA rules" is underway.  

"I'm obviously very disappointed," said Bulldogs head coach Mark Richt. "The important thing for our team is to turn all our attention toward preparation for Missouri."

NFL: Skull Of An Attacked Victim In 49ers Stadium Has Been Partially Removed

A man who was attacked at Levi's Stadium on Sunday had to have part of his skull removed and is currently suffering some paralysis, Santa Clara County prosecutor Deborah Hernandez said on Wednesday.The 32-year-old man was viciously attacked in a stadium bathroom just minutes before the 49ers and Chiefs were set to kick off.

The man's cousin told police that the victim nudged another man to get that man to go to an open stall. The suspect responded by saying he 'doesn't like to get pushed' and followed that up by punching the victim three times, including a punch that knocked the victim out cold.
