Record breaker: Bayern set longest unbeaten run record

Bayern Munich broke the record for the longest undefeated run in Bundesliga history, extending their streak to 37 games with a routine 3-0 win over Augsburg. Goals from Jerome Boateng, Franck Ribery and a late penalty by Thomas Muller strengthened the defending champions’ position at the top of the league table, as Borussia Dortmund suffered defeat at Wolfsburg. Pep Guardiola’s side took just four minutes to break the deadlock, when Boateng’s swiveled half-volley at the back post from an over-hit corner found the top corner of the opposition net. The visitors looked unable to cope with the tempo of Bayern’s game in the opening 10 minutes, but Ribery and Mandzukic passed up chances to make it 2-0, allowing Augsburg the opportunity to relieve some of the pressure and push forward. Bayern Munich’s tempo continued to drop off as the first half progressed but the hosts doubled their advantage just before the break, with Ribery smashing home a freekick on the very edge of the box in emphatic fashion. They just equaled the number of straight consecutive wins in the Champions Leagued earlier this week. Congrats Bayern, thumbs up Guardiola , i can sense more records coming.

Defoe breaks record as Tottenham marches on

Defoe scored from the spot after 67 minutes to take his tally in European competition to 23 on Thursday as Tottenham booked their place in the last 32 of the Europa League with victory over the Moldovan side. Erik Lamela had given the hosts the lead on the hour mark before Defoe's spot-kick put Andre Villas-Boas' side in command.  Forward Ismail Isa pulled one back for Sheriff, but the plaudits belonged to Defoe, who overtook the mark set by 1972 Uefa Cup winner Martin Chivers.
"It was a frustrating night as they camped in and gave us no space in behind," Defoe told ITV.
"I had to stay patient and I am delighted to score the goal and take the European scoring record. What an opportunity to do it, I was confident with the penalty.
"I saw Martin Chivers at half-time, he said to me to keep going and I would get the record. He's a legend." The 31-year-old also reserved praise for Lamela, who scored his first goal for the London club with a smart low finish. The match ended 2-1 in favor of Tottenham. Congrats Jermain Defoe...

Barcelona midfielder Xavi has surpassed Real Madrid legend Raul's record of Champions League wins following the Catalans' 3-1 win over AC Milan on Wednesday. He broke Raul's record of 79 wins in the Champions league. Great Xavi, congrats.......

RONALDO BREAKS MESSI'S RECORD

Cristiano Ronaldo has broken the record held for Champions League goals scored in a calendar year after his second-half strike for Real Madrid at Juventus on Tuesday - overtaking the mark previously set by Barcelona's Lionel Messi. It was the Portuguese's eighth goal in four Group B games this term and his 14th in the Champions League this calendar year, a total which sees him surpass Messi's 13 strikes in 2012.
Ronaldo's goal was his 59th in the Champions League. The Portuguese now trails only Messi (63) and Raul (71). He also needs just one more strike to set a new group stage record currently shared with Hernan Crespo, Filippo Inzaghi and Ruud van Nistelrooy. Good times for CR7 who is prospering amidst mockery and criticisms. Its for sure that Barcelona fans and Messi will not be happy. Thumbs up
