NBA: Cavs Hold Players Meeting To Call Off Grievances

The Cleveland Cavaliers have been the best mess in the NBA for some time. Despite their gaudy record and nearly assured path to the NBA Finals, the team has expressed concerning body language and worrisome quotes, well before the blowout loss to the Warriors and the firing of David Blatt.

However, after a faceplant loss to the Chicago Bulls in their first game after firing Blatt, the Cavs have rattled off four straight, including their most impressive win over the Spurs Saturday night. Now ESPN reports that in the aftermath of Blatt's firing, the team held a players-only meeting, spearheaded by their three stars LeBron James, Kyrie Irving and Kevin Love, and not only cleared the air, but established a measure of accountability ... for everyone. NBA: Warriors 89-83 Cavaliers

Even when all those long-range shots aren't falling like usual, the defending-champion Golden State Warriors showed they are quite comfortable grinding out wins.

Draymond Green had 22 points and 15 rebounds and the Warriors got defensive in their NBA Finals rematch against Cleveland, beating the Cavaliers 89-83 on Friday.

''It's good to have one of those every so often,'' guard Stephen Curry said. ''If our defense shows up, we're in pretty good shape to win games. We just show our versatility and try to win different ways.''

With the Cavaliers facing the team that has given him so much trouble through the years, and with Celtics announcer Tommy Heinsohn literally calling him a crybaby courtside, James found himself on a break from an outlet pass and gave the crowd something special.

LeBron James announced a life deal with apparel giants some days ago. Facts reaching us now speculates that the life deal with Nike is worth more than $30 million a year.

LeBron James' lifetime deal with Nike will not only keep the Cleveland Cavaliers forward in the company's clothes and sneakers for the rest of his life, it will also make him an even richer man.

According to USA Today's Sam Amick, Nike's lifetime deal with James will pay him "significantly more than" $500 million.

LeBron James will be wearing Nike for the rest of his life, yes, for the rest of his life or you can say till he dies which simply means LeBron will be on the pay card of Nike till he dies. This is a massive breakthrough for the star who is the first athlete to get a lifetime deal.

According to ESPN's Darren Rovell, James signed a lifetime deal with Nike on Monday. Very few athletes get lifetime deals with a sneaker company (Allen Iverson has one with Reebok) and James is the first athlete to ever sign a lifetime deal with Nike.

There is little doubt that LeBron James is as he put it, "the best player in the world." James did literally everything he physically could to will the Cleveland Cavaliers to victory in the NBA Finals but injuries and the sheer brilliance of the Warriors was too much for one man to overcome. This was James' fourth Finals loss and the question about his legacy was immediately brought up by many afterwards.

James going to six finals (his overall Finals record is 2-4) is an amazing feat and should not be downplayed. This is something that James is well aware of, which is why he isn't worried about his legacy as he told the "Today" show's Matt Lauer.

NBA FINALS GAME 5: Warriors Defeat Cavaliers

The Golden State Warriors, with 37 points from MVP Stephen Curry, moved within one step of ending the franchise's 40-year championship drought with a 104-91 victory against the Cleveland Cavaliers on Sunday night, taking a 3-2 lead in the NBA Finals.

Game 6 will be Tuesday night in Cleveland, where LeBron James and the Cavs will try to force a seventh game and maintain hope of ending that city's 51-year pro sports title drought.

After a series-low 20 points in Game 4, James was incredible once again -- collecting 40 points, 14 rebounds, 11 assists and making one clutch play after another down the stretch. But despite using a smaller lineup to match the Warriors, the Cavs couldn't find consistent offense from anyone else. Tristan Thompson had 19 points and 10 rebounds, and the enigmatic J.R. Smith had 14 points -- all in the first half -- on 5-of-15 shooting.

NBA FINALS: Warriors Will Be Nervous In Game 1

The Golden State Warriors will be nervous in Game 1 of the Finals vs. the Cleveland Cavaliers Thursday. They know that, and instead of trying to deny it or run from it, they're turning into the slide, and trying to use the inevitable "jitters" as something they can prepare for.

"There are always going to be jitters," Harrison Barnes said Wednesday at Oracle Arena's availability. "No matter how relaxed you try to be. The biggest thing is to use it in a positive way, not getting too hard on yourself. Game 1 there are going to be adjustments, we have to be able to adapt. We don't know defensively, how they're going to guard Steph, all that stuff. So we just have to be ready to turn that energy into a good thing."

The Warriors do not feature a player with NBA Finals experience, and have gotten off to slow starts at home consistently. They trailed after the first quarter in two of the three games vs. Houston and have a home first-quarter point-differential of just plus-0.3.
