Manchester United manager Louis van Gaal attempted to shield Wayne Rooney from criticism after the striker turned in a laborious display in a 0-0 draw with Manchester City.

Tottenham Hotspur striker Harry Kane expects Liverpool players to be pumped up and give "five percent extra" when they visit White Hart Lane on Saturday for the first game under their new manager Juergen Klopp.

Having spent the international break with the England squad, which includes Liverpool duo Nathaniel Clyne and Danny Ings, Kane says it was obvious that Liverpool players were eager to impress Klopp.

"Liverpool are going to have a new manager and they will be up for it. In the first couple of game everybody tries to impress so they will probably have that little five percent extra than usual," Kane told the British media.

Cristiano Ronaldo Bags 4th Golden Boot Award

Cristiano Ronaldo has been presented with a record fourth Golden Shoe award in a ceremony on Tuesday, after scoring 48 goals in the 2014-15 season.

Ronaldo collected the award, given to Europe's highest goalscorer over a season, ahead of rival Lionel Messi, as the Barcelona forward managed a total of 43 goals, five less than his La Liga counterpart.

Pele dismissed suggestions the nation no longer had the same love for the game, but admitted the current side are not yet a tight unit.

Super Eagles To Get Code Of Conduct - NFF

The Nigeria Football Federation on Sunday announced that a code of conduct for players and officials of the various national teams is ready and will be implemented soon.

Against the backdrop of the Vincent Enyeama saga which saw the former Super Eagles quit the team unceremoniously, the NFF has moved to cage further occurrences by speeding up the template.

NFF President Amaju Melvin Pinnick said the document is to forestall issues related to how players and officials behave during national duty and outlines what is expected of them.
