SC Cambuur 1-1 AZ Alkmaar: Ogbeche Scores Late Equalizer

Bartholomew Ogbeche kept up his goalscoring form for Dutch Eredivisie side, SC Cambuur, as his goal on Saturday saved them from losing at home to AZ Alkmaar.

The Nigerian forward scored in the 72nd minute to cancel out AZ Alkmaar's one-goal lead from Vincent Janssen's first half strike. Ogbeche proved a handful for the defence of AZ from the start as he drew them into forced fouls in the opening 10 minutes.

In the 17th minute, Ogbeche rose highest to head from close range but AZ goalkeeper Gino Coutinho saved.

Nine minutes later, AZ stunned the hosts at the Cambuur Stadion through Janssen's goal.

Two minutes to the half hour mark, Ogbeche turned provider for Sander van de Streek whose attempt was blocked.

Ogbeche kept popping up almost everywhere and on 30 minutes his header from the left side of AZ's goal area was just too high over the post.

The 31-year-old Nigerian rounded off his first half performance with a long range effort which Coutinho kept out to preserve AZ's one-goal lead into the break.

AZ Alkmaar were the better team in the earlier part of the business end of the game as Ogbeche was starved of supplies from Cambuur's midfield until 18 minutes before time when he netted the equalizer.

Ogbeche finished off a fine move by Cambuur from close range and into the top right corner after good work by Marvin Peersman who provided the assist.

Despite Ogbeche seeing his team finish the game with a man disadvantaged after Wessel Dammers got a second yellow card, the Nigerian had already made sure that they eked out a point against AZ.

The Nigerian striker has now scored five Dutch league goals from nine appearances this season and has a 45 per cent shot accuracy.
