Onigbinde To NFF: Look For Better Enyeamas

As Nigerians continue to react to Vincent Enyeama’s retirement, former Super Eagles coach, Chief Adegboye Onigbinde, has called on the Nigeria Football Federation to comb the country for quality goalkeeping talents.

The 32-year-old drew the curtain on his international career, 13 years after making his debut for the Super Eagles.

According to the Onigbinde, who discovered him and later took him to the 2002 Fifa World Cup where his awe-inspiring displays earned him the no.1 jersey, Enyeama stands out among his peers and has served the country very well.

With the sacking of the Stephen Keshi as coach of the Super Eagles, some Nigerian coaches have started lobbying and jostling for the national team job.

Former Super Eagles coach, Adegboye Onigbinde, who said this during a telephone interview with our correspondent, said some indigenous coaches have sent emails to him seeking his support for the Eagles job. Onigbinde said Nigeria still has a few coaches, who are intelligent and experienced enough to coach the Eagles successfully, and dismissed the call for a foreign coach for the national team.

He added that the removal of Keshi may affect the Eagles, considering that Keshi’s replacement would come with a new programme and may choose a different set of players.

Former Super Eagles coach, Chief Adegboye Onigbinde says the Eagles coaches still have some time to sort the lapses noticed in the friendlies and get the team ready for the task ahead.

Onigbinde in a chat with  stated that there are still few deficiencies in the team which can still be corrected by the national team handler in good time before their first match.
