Neymar and the Brazilian football confederation have denied media reports that the striker could undergo special treatment on his fractured vertebra to try to play in the World Cup final if Brazil makes it that far.

Both Neymar and the confederation released statements late on Sunday saying that nothing that could risk the player's health or career would be attempted to allow him to play in the final if Brazil advances past Germany in Tuesday's semifinals.

The statements came after the Brazilian media quoted doctors from the Brazlian club Santos as saying there was a chance Neymar could play in the final by with alternative treatments and painkiller injections.

The streets of Bogota were jam packed with fans decked out in the national colours, and thousands upon thousands of Colombian fans welcomed home their World Cup team on Sunday.

As the Colombian bus moved it’s way through the streets of the capital, fans flooded the sidewalks, flags waving, in scenes that make you wonder what would have happened if Colombia actually won the tournament.

During the closing stages of Friday's often-feisty 2-1 quarter-final win over Colombia in Fortaleza, the Barcelona forward sustained a fractured vertebra due to a robust challenge from Juan Camilo Zuniga.

Zuniga's knee made contact with Neymar's back and the defender simultaneously pushed his opponent to the floor via the back of the neck, but the incident went unpunished by Carlos Velasco Carballo amid a lenient performance throughout from the Spanish referee.

Andre Schurrle insists Germany will not crumble under the weight of expectation at the FIFA World Cup.
Tipped as favourites by many ahead of the showpiece in Brazil, Joachim Low's side have so far met every challenge to reach the last eight - where they will face France on Friday.

Their progress has not been without a struggle, Germany requiring extra-time to ultimately overcome Algeria in the last-16.

Yet Schurrle, who was on the scoresheet in that 2-1 win, is undaunted by the knowledge that his country's supporters will not be satisfied until he and his team-mates are holding the trophy aloft.

FIFA: No World Cup Match Fixing Evidence

FIFA has said there has been no evidence that match-fixing has taken place at the World Cup. German publication Der Spiegel claimed that convicted match-fixer Wilson Raj Perumal correctly called the outcome of Croatia's 4-0 win over Cameroon in the group stages of the Brazil showpiece in a conversation on Facebook with the magazine.

Der Spiegel also claimed that Perumal indicated to them a Cameroon player would be sent off in the first half, with Alex Song subsequently dismissed five minutes before the break.

For his part, Perumal has strenously denied those suggestions, while Der Spiegel continue to stand by their report. But at a news conference on Wednesday, the world governing body called on the magazine to bring forward evidence to support the allegations.
