Colombia's main man, James Rodríguez, said today [Monday] that it is unfair to see the Copa America quarter-final game between Colombia and Argentina as a showdown between himself and Lionel Messi because the Barcelona star "is from another world".

"Messi is from another world. He's a one-off. There can't be a James vs. Messi showdown as that'd be unfair on him", said the Real Madrid midfielder at a press conference.

James tried to stop the quarter-final between Colombia and Argentina from being reduced to merely a game between James and Messi, who usually face off in La Liga 'clásicos' between Real Madrid and Barcelona.

Am Not A Goal Machine Like Ronaldo - James Rodríguez

James Rodríguez assures that he is very happy at Real Madrid. He also says that he is not a prolific goalscorer like Ronaldo, that Ancelotti is the key, and he really likes Isco. The Colombian was interviewed on Cadena SER's 'El Larguero' programme.

Real Madrid: "I always wanted to be here; I dreamed of being here since I was three or four years old, and I want to stay for a long time. I'll fight to the death to keep this dream alive for a long time. I knew I had talent, but in football you have to be lucky as well."

The streets of Bogota were jam packed with fans decked out in the national colours, and thousands upon thousands of Colombian fans welcomed home their World Cup team on Sunday.

As the Colombian bus moved it’s way through the streets of the capital, fans flooded the sidewalks, flags waving, in scenes that make you wonder what would have happened if Colombia actually won the tournament.

The star of the team was James Rodriguez, who scored a competition leading six goals in Brazil.

Colombia forward James Rodriguez is in the class of Diego Maradona, Lionel Messi and Luis Suarez, according to Uruguay boss Oscar Tabarez.

Rodriguez, 22, opened the scoring with a brilliant volley before adding a second to beat Uruguay and set up a quarter-final with hosts Brazil.

Colombia coach Jose Pekerman added: "I never had any doubts that this was going to be his World Cup."
"From what I have seen, he is the best player in the World Cup," said Tabarez.
"I am not exaggerating, he is a great striker."

JAMES RODRIGUEZ: I Prefer Real Madrid To Barcelona

James Rodríguez admitted after Colombia 2-0 win over Uruguay that he'd prefer a move to Real Madrid instead of Barcelona. "I would love to play in Spain", the AS Monaco midfielder said.

"It would be a dream to play there, it is the best league in the world. I prefer Real Madrid to Barcelona", he added when asked by journalists from Spanish radio station Cope.

Monaco paid 45 million euros for the 22-year-old Colombia star and are unlikely to allow him to leave for anything less.
