Cristiano Ronaldo, struggling with a lacklustre start to the season, is set for a boost on Saturday with James Rodríguez and Karim Benzema, his two attacking wingmen with whom he shares a strong connection and can bring home the goals, returning to the starting XI. Just what the doctor ordered for the club's first home La Liga fixture of the campaign.
The three conjured up 28 goals between them last season in their various combinations. Benzema served up seven assists to Cristiano and three to James, with the Portuguese star providing five assists to each of his two teammates and the Colombian handing goal glory to Benzema on two occasions and to CR7 on six. Not surprising Ronaldo has missed having the pair around.
Between the two, they set Ronaldo up with 13 assists, of the kind he could only dream of in his campaign start. With only one goal in six matches, the superstar's numbers are falling far short of the 'Los Blancos' fans' expectations.
Hampered by Gareth Bale's new position, which prevents him from appearing in the centre of the field as often as he would like, Ronaldo's start under Benítez has not been plain sailing and he is looking forward to being reunited with Benzema and James to restore his fortunes.
