The young defender has been at the heart of a tug-of-war between Everton and Chelsea this summer, and it looks like going right down to the wire.
Toffees manager Roberto Martinez has been resolutely digging his heels in, refusing to sell his promising defender, while Chelsea have continued their pursuit despite Everton’s clear stance.
Chelsea have had at least two bids rejected by Everton, and the saga has even led to a war of words between Martinez and Chelsea boss Jose Mourinho, who can’t understand why Everton have been so irked.
The player himself has remained quiet on the matter, but it now seems that Stones wants the move, and is willing to take the last resort option of handing in a transfer request in order to push through the deal.
