Real Madrid Splashes €82m On New Signings

No big names and no galácticos. Florentino Pérez has invested close to €82m in Rafa Benítez's new-look team. That money has been spread over the five reinforcements, not including Benítez himself, brought in to strengthen the squad.

€35m went on Danilo, €6m on Casilla, €1m on Lucas Vázquez and close to €8m on re-signing Casemiro. On top of that, €33m was spent on Croatian starlet Kovacic. This is the fifth-highest amount of money Florentino has spent on new signings since he took over the club. He has done his part to meet Benítez's demands with regards to completing and strengthening the Real Madrid first-team squad.

David de Gea is the only player Florentino has as yet been unable to sign. Should he insist on bringing in the United keeper, Real Madrid would again break the €100m barrier. It would be the fourth time the president has invested that much during his 13 years as president.
