Sunday Oliseh and many Nigerian fans will be praying against meeting strong west African opponents in the world cup 2018 group qualifying matches due to the fierce rivalry between the top teams in the region.

Five-time World Cup finalists Nigeria could well draw arch-rivals Ghana and Cameroon in the group phase of the qualifying tournament for the 2018 World Cup should the FIFA rankings be mainly used to seed teams.

No date has been fixed yet for the draw for this final round of the World Cup qualifiers, which will be played on league basis, but speculations are rife that it could be before the end of the year.

Efe Ambrose, Moses Simon and Odion Ighalo provided goal scoring contributions as Nigeria claimed a deserved 3-0 victory over Cameroon in an international friendly in Brussels on Sunday.

Carl Ikeme kept his place in goal with Leon Balogun, Ambrose, Shehu Abdullahi and Elderson Echiejile starting in a four-man defence for the Super Eagles.

Ogenyi Onazi, Sylvester Igbonu and John Mikel Obi all started in the middle while Emmanuel Emenike, Simon and captain Ahmed Musa played in the more advanced positions.

The friendly between Nigeria Super Eagles and Cameroon will now be played at the Edmond Machtens Stadium in Brussels.

The capacity has a 11,000 capacity and it is the home ground of a Belgian second division club. The Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) confirmed the venue change on Wednesday.

The match will be played on Sunday and kick-off time is 8pm.

Cameroun have named their strongest possible squad as they prepare to tackle Nigeria at the Stade Van Roy in an international friendly in Belgium next month.

Coach Volker Finke has named a 25 man squad to prosecute the October 11 game in Dendeleeuw, Belgium. The friendly international is aimed to prepare the teams for the start of the 2018 World Cup qualifiers.

Friendly: Nigeria To Play Cameroon & Congo

Nigeria are to play two friendly matches against Cameroon and Congo next month in Belgium, the president of the country's football association said on Monday.

"I can confirm that we will play against Congo on October 8 in Antwerp and against Cameroon on October 11 in Brussels," Amaju Pinnick said on Nigeria's Channels television.

Congo denied Nigeria a spot at the Africa Cup of Nations in Equatorial Guinea earlier this year by finishing second in the qualifying group behind South Africa.

Leopold Angong Oben has collapsed and died during a game in Cameroon’s Professional Football league.

The Dynamo de Douala player was fouled in the penalty area and the referee awarded his team a spot-kick during the first half of the match against Colombe du Dja-et-Lobo at the Reunification Stadium in Douala.

He received treatment on the pitch, but collapsed a few minutes later after play was restarted.

CAMEROON 1 MALI 1: Ambroise Oyongo Scores Late Equalizer

Ambroise Oyongo netted a late equaliser to secure Cameroon a 1-1 draw in their Africa Cup of Nations Group D match against Mali in Malabo on Tuesday evening. After a goalless first half, the Eagles broke the deadlock through Sambou Yatabare with just under 20 minutes to play, but the Indomitable Lions equalised in the 84th minute to secure a share of the spoils.

The result leaves all four teams level on one point in Group D, as the earlier match between Ivory Coast and Guinea also ended in a 1-1 draw.

Cameroon and Mali are set to meet in an interesting 2015 CAF African Cup of Nations, Group D opener at the Estadio de Malabo in Equatorial Guinea on Tuesday night.
Kick-off is at 9pm (SA time).

Both sides will aim for three points to launch their campaign for glory in the 30th edition of the continental showpiece. In their previous meetings, both sides have already met twice at the Afcon. Cameroonian striker Albert Ebossé has died after being hit in the head by an object thrown from the stands during an Algerian league game. The 24-year-old was fatally struck by a projectile at the end of his club JS Kabylie’s meeting with USM Alger in Tizi Ouzou.

Kabylie said in a statement: “The Ministry of Interior and Local Government, through minister Tayeb Belaiz, has given the instruction to open an investigation into the circumstances surrounding the death of Albert Ebossé.

“The JSK player succumbed to a head injury after being hit in the head at the end of the meeting with USM Alger.”

Eto Undergoes Medical Ahead Of Liverpool Move - Goal

Samuel Eto'o has opted to join Liverpool and is undergoing a medical on Friday ahead of signing a one-year deal, Goal understands.

Everton's late interest in the 33-year-old had threatened to derail Liverpool's move, with Roberto Martinez's side ready to offer a two-year contract, but the striker is excited by the prospect of working under Brendan Rodgers.

The Cameroon international's medical is taking place outside of the UK, while the deal could be finalised before Liverpool face Manchester City on Monday evening.

FIFA: No World Cup Match Fixing Evidence

FIFA has said there has been no evidence that match-fixing has taken place at the World Cup. German publication Der Spiegel claimed that convicted match-fixer Wilson Raj Perumal correctly called the outcome of Croatia's 4-0 win over Cameroon in the group stages of the Brazil showpiece in a conversation on Facebook with the magazine.

Der Spiegel also claimed that Perumal indicated to them a Cameroon player would be sent off in the first half, with Alex Song subsequently dismissed five minutes before the break.

For his part, Perumal has strenously denied those suggestions, while Der Spiegel continue to stand by their report. But at a news conference on Wednesday, the world governing body called on the magazine to bring forward evidence to support the allegations.

Fifa has refused to comment on allegations of match-fixing during Cameroon’s World Cup games for fear of compromising any possible future investigation. The African nation finished bottom of Group A after losing to Mexico, Croatia and hosts Brazil, but their game against the latter of that trio has come under scrutiny.

A well-known match-fixer reportedly predicted the 4-0 result before the game, prompting the Cameroon Football Association (Fecafoot) to open its own investigation on Monday.

President Joseph Owona stating: “Recent allegations of fraud around Cameroon's three 2014 Fifa World Cup preliminary games, especially Cameroon vs. Croatia, as well of the 'existence of seven bad apples [in our national team]' do not reflect the values and principles promoted by our administration, in line with FIFA Code of Conduct and the ethics of our nation.
