The Lionesses put their preparation troubles behind to scrap their way through the final stage of the road to Rio 2016 by coming from behind twice to hold the Black Queens to a 2-2 draw in Accra on Saturday.
Ghana, boosted by the 1-1 first leg results in Yaounde, opened the scoring through striker Samira Sulemana in the 16th minute but Cameroon (celebrating below) soon equalized after poor defending by the Black Queens. Ngono Mani capitalized on the defensive mishap to level matters.
The Black Queens restored the lead as early as the second minute into second half following an Elizabeth Addo-inspired introduction. Addo's presence in midfield brought more energy into Ghana's attack as her splitting pass found forward Agnes Aduako whose cross was expertly met by Portia Boakye for the Black Queen's second goal.
Substitute Agnes Nkada scored what ended up as the qualification goal for Cameroon with a neat header to put the scoreline at 2-2 seven minutes from full time. Coach Enoh Ngachu's ladies put up a strong fight to fend off Ghana's push for a winning goal.
Cameroon thus move closer to a second successive appearance at the Olympic Games as they advance to the final qualifying round to the 2016 Rio Olympics.
The Black Queens' failure means Ghana has failed to get a representation in both male and female categories for the football event at next year's Olympics. The Black Meteors were eliminated in the men's qualifiers by Congo in May.
