Petr Cech was forced off with a shoulder injury during Chelsea's Champions League clash with Atletico Madrid. The 31-year-old collided with Raul Garcia after 15 minutes and required lengthy treatment on the pitch before being replaced by Mark Schwarzer.
Cech had returned to Chelsea's starting side after missing Saturday's 2-1 defeat at home to Sunderland because of a virus and is now a doubt for the clash at league leaders Liverpool on Sunday.
John Terry was also forced off with an ankle injury during Chelsea's Champions League clash with Atletico Madrid on Tuesday evening.
Atletico striker Diego Costa stood on Terry's foot inside Chelsea's penalty area and the defender landed awkwardly on his ankle after jumping in the air.
Following the collision in the 71st minute, Terry attempted to play on but was forced to withdraw as he was not able to move freely.
Chelsea suffered another injury blow in the first half after Petr Cech was substituted with a shoulder problem after a challenge with Raul Garcia.
Reports in Spain have suggested that the 31-year-old goalkeeper, who was replaced by Mark Schwarzer, was immediately sent to hospital to undergo scans.
Both Terry and Cech are now doubts for Chelsea’s Premier League clash with Liverpool on Sunday afternoon.
Jose Mourinho’s side, who lost to Sunderland on Saturday, are five points behind leaders Liverpool ahead of their trip to Anfield.
