Hull City manager Steve Bruce has insisted that he will do all within his power to hold on to Nigerian forward Omatsone Aluko.
Bruce, however, knows the winger is in demand but will not want to part ways with the 25-year-old unless the interested party is willing to part with as much as £7 million (about N1.9 billion).
Aluko has recently found first-team opportunities difficult to come by following his recovery from a recent injury setback. The Nigerian recently spoke of his frustration at not playing regularly at the KC Stadium following the arrival of Shane Long and Nikica Jelavic to the club.
Crystal Palace boss Tony Pulis is a big admirer of Aluko and reports over the last couple of days in the British press have suggested a bid could go in as he looks to bolster his Eagles' strike force.
It would, however, take an offer of £7 million to tempt Bruce to sell, but the Tigers boss is hoping to keep hold of his prized asset.
"In my eyes, Sone is a £7-million player. I can understand his frustration because if you are not playing and you've got something about you, then of course you question it,” Bruce told www.clubcall.com.
Bruce added that Aluko was justified to feel unhappy about not getting playing time as most professional footballers would react in a similar manner.
“At the end of the day a player only thinks of one thing, and that's himself.
“I was the same - if you are not playing, you're not happy. But just because we paid £7-million each for Shane Long and Nikica Jelavic in January, it doesn't mean Sone is out on his ear.
The former Manchester United captain stated that Aluko still has a future at Hull City, noting that it is imperative for the striker to return to peak physical condition.
"I see Sone as a big part of what we are trying to do here, but we need to get him fully fit and back to being the player I know he is," he said.
Aluko has scored once in 15 league appearances for Hull this season.
