Eaglets Wins Bronze In WAFU U-17

Nigeria U-17 defeated Togo U-17 3-0 in the third place match of the West African Football Union cadet championship played on Sunday at the Stade Municipal.

First half goals from Kehinde Ayinde, Orji Okonkwo and Jack Ipalibo were all the Eaglets needed to pick up the bronze medal.

Amuneke’s boys still fresh from third 3-1 defeat to Benin Republic in the semi final put up a commanding display against the hosts and were rewarded with two corner kicks in the first two minutes of the game officiated by Bievenue Sinko of Cote d’Ivoire before their goal rush that gave them victory.


Nigeria will face either Burundi or Congo DR in August for the Niger 2015 African U17 Championship which serves as qualifiers for the Fifa U17 World Cup that will take place in Chile.
