Catalan TV station La Portería has reported over the last few hours that Barcelona are interested in signing Mesut Ozil and will make an offer for the German playmaker’s services this summer.
Barcelona’s Director of Football, Andoni Zubizarreta, is a keen admirer of Ozil and has been keeping an eye on the Arsenal schemer for the last three seasons, according to La Portería.
Reports on Thursday suggest that Barcelona will bid 30 million euros for Ozil.
Barcelona were one of many big clubs tracking Ozil before he joined Real Madrid but instead moved to bring Cesc Fabregas back from Arsenal.
Considering Arsenal paid plenty more than 30 million euros for Ozil, we can be sure that this suggestion has little or no basis.
But, Arsenal fans would be forgiven for giving this report a little thought time after losing the likes of Thierry Henry and Cesc Fabregas to Barcelona.
