Nigeria May Draw Cameroon, Ghana In World Cup 2018 Qualifiers

Sunday Oliseh and many Nigerian fans will be praying against meeting strong west African opponents in the world cup 2018 group qualifying matches due to the fierce rivalry between the top teams in the region.

Five-time World Cup finalists Nigeria could well draw arch-rivals Ghana and Cameroon in the group phase of the qualifying tournament for the 2018 World Cup should the FIFA rankings be mainly used to seed teams.

No date has been fixed yet for the draw for this final round of the World Cup qualifiers, which will be played on league basis, but speculations are rife that it could be before the end of the year.

Four years ago in Maputo, Nigeria’s volleyball male and female teams narrowly missed out in race for medals, a challenge both players and officials of the teams have vowed to tackle in Congo.

Ghana's Daniel Opare Signs For Augsburg

Ghana’s Daniel Opare has joined German side Augsburg after sealing an exit from FC Porto. The 24-year-old full-back mutually ended his contract with the Portuguese side due to lack of first team opportunities. He joined after the 2014 World Cup with Ghana but was loaned out to Besiktas in Turkey this January.

The Turks failed to agree on a fee with Porto for the former Real Madrid trainee to make his stay permanent at the end of the season.

Opare’s return to fight for first team chances with the Dragons suffered a huge blow when manager Julen Lopetegui demoted him to train with the junior team during the summer pre-season. Chelsea Agree €20m Transfer Deal For Baba Rahman

Chelsea appear to have completed the signing of Augsburg full back Baba Rahman, according to respected Italian journalist Gianluca Di Marzio.

The 21-year-old Ghana international is set to replace Filipe Luis as competition for Cesar Azpilicueta, after the Brazilian defender returned to Atletico Madrid earlier this summer.

Augsburg spent €2.5m to sign Baba Rahman from Greuther Fürth and look set to make a huge profit on the talented young left back.

CAF Must Take Stiff Action Against Equatorial Guinea - Ghana

Ghana have called for stiff action against Afcon 2015 hosts Equatorial Guinea after several Ghanaian supporters were injured in attacks by home fans during Thursday's semifinal between the two countries.

"It's a pity that this dark cloud overshadows our success and we really need to see some stiff action taken by the Confederation of African Football (CAF)," said Kwesi Nyantakyi, president of the Ghana Football Association who is also a senior CAF executive.
