Jordan Ayew Blasts Lorient For Blocking Aston Villa Move

Lorient's apparent refusal to allow Jordan Ayew to join Aston Villa has infuriated the Ghana striker.
Jordan Ayew has lashed out at Lorient, accusing the Ligue 1 club of attempting to price him out of a move to Aston Villa.

Villa manager Tim Sherwood is on the hunt for a new striker and has seemingly turned his attentions to Ghana striker Ayew, who scored 12 goals in Ligue 1 last season for the Breton side.

Ayew's older brother Andre has sealed a switch to the Premier League for the coming season with Swansea City, and the younger son of Ghanaian legend Abedi Pele wants to follow suit.

Villa have brokered terms with Lorient that will see them pay up to £12 million (€17m) for the former Marseille man's services.

The 23-year-old is now due for a medical in the next 24 hours before committing himself to Tim Sherwood's side.

In-demand Ghana forward Jordan Ayew may likely be sold by Lorient for a reported fee of €12 million. The 22-year-old is currently under contract with the French Ligue 1 side until June 2018 after joining from Olympique Marseille for €4 million last summer.

Ayew became an instant hit with Les Merlus as his 12 goals and seven assists proved vital in the side's narrow escape from relegation at the end of the past season.

He has been a subject of open courting by new LOSC Lille coach Hervé Renard who has vowed to reunite with the son of the Ghana legend Abedi Pele he worked with as a loan player at Sochaux two seasons ago.

Jordan Ayew struck his maiden international hat-trick for Ghana on Monday, taking advantage of an early injury to Abdul Majeed Waris to push his claims to coach Kwesi Appiah for a starting berth against the United States on June 16.

With Ghana having developed a reputation as team that lacked genuine goalscorers, Ayew may have timed his run perfectly. Ghana reached their maiden World Cup quarter-final in South Africa four years ago on the back of a strong defensive system and the goal-scoring prowess of Asamoah Gyan.
