Yaya Toure's first-half double provided a timely reminder of his enduring class as Manchester City began their Premier League campaign with a slick 3-0 victory at West Bromwich Albion on Monday.

Stop Criticising Yaya Toure - Manuel Pellegrini

Manuel Pellegrini has dismissed criticism of midfielder Yaya Toure's performances ahead of Manchester City's clash with Chelsea on Sunday. The Ivory Coast international was instrumental in City's 2013-14 title-winning campaign, scoring 20 Premier League goals in 35 appearances as Pellegrini's men clinched the crown by two points ahead of Liverpool.

After representing his country at the World Cup in Brazil, Toure has featured in three of City's four top-flight matches so far this term. The 31-year-old missed last weekend's 2-2 draw at Arsenal, and was far from his best in City's last-gasp 1-0 defeat at Bayern Munich in the UEFA Champions League on Wednesday.
Toure's lethargic performance at the Allianz Arena has drawn widespread criticism in the media but, speaking on Friday, Pellegrini jumped to the defence of the former Barcelona man.

"Kolo and Yaya Toure just learnt about the death of their young brother, Toure Oyala Ibrahim. The entire Ivorian delegation want to show their support to the players in this difficult period."

“The President of the Ivorian FA and the Committee Executive announce to the Ivorian Football family the death of M.Toure Oyala Ibrahim, the younger brother of Toure Kolo Abib and Toure Yaya Gnegneri, which happened on the 19th of June in Manchester (England).”

Ivory Coast are still sweating over the fitness of talismanic midfielder, Yaya Toure, as they sit just days away from their World Cup opener against Japan. Manchester City midfielder Yaya Toure insists that he was "taken out of context" when he spoke glowingly about the idea of joining Paris Saint-Germain.

"The media took what I said out of context," he told RFI.
"For the moment, there's nothing planned. Too many things have been said, that annoyed me.

"I want to take advantage of this opportunity to put things into context. It's very important. I simply said that it was nice to be a player who is quite coveted and it was an honour to play for PSG."

Yaya Toure Hints At Possible Barcelona Return

Yaya Toure's agent admits that the Manchester City midfielder would consider a return to Barcelona.
Earlier on Tuesday, the player's representative claimed that City had disrespected the Cote d'Ivoire by not wishing him a happy birthday at an event in Abu Dhabi on May 13.

Toure spent three seasons at Barcelona before joining City in July 2010 and Dimitri Seluk maintains that the Spanish club is "another home" for the 31-year-old.

"He is a very professional player and he will work hard for any club he plays for. Every club he has been at he has been one of the best players, if not the best," the agent told talkSPORT.
