Ivory Coast are still sweating over the fitness of talismanic midfielder, Yaya Toure, as they sit just days away from their World Cup opener against Japan. The Ivoirians will kick-off their Group C meeting against Japan on Sunday (3AM CAT), but could be without the services of the Manchester City man.
Toure spent the latter part of the Premier League season battling a thigh injury with the Citizens, but managed to come back for the final day of the league to help City claim their league title.
The 31-year-old didn’t take part in any of Ivory Coast’s warm-up matches to the World Cup, after he missed the beginning part of camp due to his being in Qatar for treatment.
Elephants head coach, Sabri Lamouchi, admitted that he and his technical staff are doing everything they can to make sure he recovers.
"We will try and do everything to ensure he can play him," said Lamouchi.
Ivory Coast will also take on Colombia and Greece in their remaining Group matches.
