WORLD CUP: Liverpool Will Not Stand By Luis Suarez In Biting Saga

Liverpool striker Luis Suarez is facing an extraordinary two year worldwide ban after allegedly biting Giorgio Chiellini in Uruguay’s match with Italy, according to news site The Mirror.

Suarez appeared to bite his opponent in Uruguay’s crucial World Cup match against Italy, a game that they won 1-0. Adding insult to injury, Italy were already down to 10 men having had a man sent off and were then sent packing.

This is the third time that Suarez has been caught biting his opponent and the Mirror claim that he won’t get off easy – the maximum ban they can give for such an offence is two years.

An excerpt from the story: ‘Jim Boyce, Britain’s FIFA vice-president and head of FIFA’s referees committee, expressed major concerns about Suarez’s actions.

He said: “I have watched the incident several times on television. There is no doubt Luis Suarez is a fantastic footballer but, once again, his actions have left him open to severe criticism.”‘

Additionally, the Mirror report that Liverpool will not stand by their striker with this being the latest in a long line of misdemeanours, dragging the club through the club.

The club are set to hold crisis talks on Wednesday.
