The first stage of Brazil 2014 will go down in history as the one in which the most goals were scored from the 48 games played in the first stage - no less than 136, meaning an average of 2.83 a match.
Obviously, nowadays there are more games than there used to be, but these figures surpass, in absolute terms, those of the Swedish World Cup of 1958, when Pelé made his debut at just 17 years of age and a total of 85 goals were scored.
Statistically speaking, all records set in South Africa four years ago at this stage have been beaten. Brazil has seen a 33% increase in goals, from 101 to 136.
The public have also entered the record books. Compared with the viewing figures of South Africa's first stage, Brazil have won, and not by a little, either.
A total of 2,454,341 people watched the 48 games played this time round in the World Cup. This is an average of 51,132 per match. No more and no less than 169,542 people more than the 2,284,794 that witnessed the African event.
A lot of effort has had to be made, many kilometres travelled and a lot of sweat shed to make Brazil 2014 a success story in terms of technology. This year, we have seen innovative leading-edge technology that has proved to be a great success.
