Friday Ekpo, Christian Chukwu Disagree Over Eagles Draw

The Tanzania versus Nigeria match has generated different issues after the goalless draw. Former Eagles star Christian Chukwu has backed Oliseh while Friday Ekpo has slammed Oliseh's tactics.

Two former internationals, Christian Chukwu and Friday Ekpo have disagreed over the outcome of the Super Eagles goalless game against Taifa Stars of Tanzania on Saturday.

While Ekpo believes that the result of the match was a product of lack of game plan, Chukwu says it was a fair result. According to Ekpo, lack of a proper game plan contributed to the Eagles lackluster 0-0 draw.

Nigeria defender, Leon Balogun, has been ruled out of Saturday's 2017 Afcon qualifier against Tanzania in Dar es Salaam.

Balogun will not take part in the Africa Cup of Nations against the Taifa Stars of Tanzania owing to an ankle injury he has been nursing since Wednesday.

Nigeria will depart for their important 2017 Africa Cup of Nations qualifier against Tanzania on Thursday, September 3, two days before the game, Goal has learnt.

The game billed for the National Stadium, Da es Salam on Saturday will see Sunday Oliseh's men battle for maximum points in their bid to reach the tournament billed for Gabon.

In form Seattle Sounders forward and former Super Eagles striker Obafemi Martins thinks that Oliseh’s first list as the new Eagles' gaffer is spot on.

Martins, who has scored 18 goals in 39 games for Nigeria called the list, that includes 6 local stars from the NPFL (below with Oliseh ) , laden with talent and has tipped Nigeria to beat Tanzania.

Enyeama who was replaced by Femi Thomas of Enyimba FC has lost his precious mother and that's the reason why the Eagles captain has pulled out of the Tanzanian encounter. Reports suggest that Ikeme will replace Enyeama in goal.

Vincent Enyeama’s mother has passed away it has emerged, hours after Nigeria coach Sunday Oliseh told media that the goalkeeper opted out of the Super Eagles ahead of their trip to Tanzania without an excuse.

The 101-capped Enyeama posted a message on his Instagram page on Wednesday afternoon apologizing to Nigeria fans but fell short of stating the reason for his absence.

Oliseh Insists On Selection Criteria

Nigeria head coach, Sunday Oliseh, insists he has not backtracked on his promise of selecting only Nigerian footballers who ply their trade in first division clubs for the Super Eagles.

Some sections of the local media in Nigeria reported on Tuesday that the coach had made a U-turn from his initial pledge but the trainers says that is not the case.

“Only 1st Division Players are eligible to play for the super Eagles. Only exceptions (are) U23, U20 players (and) Goalkeepers! No U turn as some claim!,” he tweeted via his verified account @SundayOOliseh.

Oliseh To Announce AFCON & CHAN Players List In August

Super Eagles Coach, Sunday Oliseh has disclosed that the team list for the AFCON  and CHAN qualifiers against Tanzania and Burkina Faso will be announced in August.

“We have to cover all grounds and be adequately prepared for all the competitions we are involved in whether it is CHAN,AFCON or World Cup qualifiers.

“Our list of invited players for the CHAN team will be out in the first week of August,while that of the 2017 Africa Cup of Nations qualifier against Tanzania should be out mid August.”

AFCON: NFF Approves Keshi's Program

The Nigeria Football Federation has approved the programme for the 2017 Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers submitted by Super Eagles coach, Stephen Keshi. The trainer submitted his programme to the NFF few days after he was unveiled as the coach for his second spell in charge.

He has suggested the month of May for the commencement of his team’s camping in Abuja which the NFF has duly obliged to.
