The Tanzania versus Nigeria match has generated different issues after the goalless draw. Former Eagles star Christian Chukwu has backed Oliseh while Friday Ekpo has slammed Oliseh's tactics.
Two former internationals, Christian Chukwu and Friday Ekpo have disagreed over the outcome of the Super Eagles goalless game against Taifa Stars of Tanzania on Saturday.
While Ekpo believes that the result of the match was a product of lack of game plan, Chukwu says it was a fair result. According to Ekpo, lack of a proper game plan contributed to the Eagles lackluster 0-0 draw.
“Eagles should have done more by playing their own style. I believe they would have done better if they had stuck to their own plan.
“They were playing like the Tanzanians. They didn’t settle down to know who and what kind of team the Tanzanians were.
“Let’s see what will happens when they play their next game,” a disappointed Ekpo told Completesportsnigeria.com.
He, however, said that four points from two games was not bad for the Eagles.
“Four points from two games is not bad. If we had lost, it would have been three points from two games.
“We just need to do more to make sure we get the necessary points in order to have the edge over the other teams.”
Chukwu said the draw was a far better result than a loss.
“Well, the goalless draw is a better result than outright defeat. The Eagles side is new under a new coach, Sunday Oliseh. The result is quite good for the rebuilding process.
“At least Oliseh and his new wards have received their baptism. I know they will improve in the next matches.
“I’m really happy we did not lose because I was worried of the harsh weather and its impact on the team.
“It’s a fair result going forward in the qualification campaign,” said the former Nigerian strongman to supersport.com.
Nigeria now leads the group on four points while the Chad and Egypt clash comes up on Sunday in N’Djamena.
