New Zealand 34-17 Australia: All Blacks Win Rugby World Cup

Ma'a Nonu and Nehe Milner-Skudder both went over for the All Blacks as they became the first side in history to seal back-to-back world titles

Payback time, big time, for Dan Carter as he guided New Zealand to their second World Cup on the spin and buried the hell of four years’ ago. Carter has a World Cup winners’ medal in his locker but that one means diddly squat compared to the one he pocketed at Twickenham on Saturday.

In 2011 Carter was the poster boy of a home tournament but ended up crocked and missed out on the business end of the party. This time round he was the business and he had 19 points to prove it. Australia tried to get Carter but they couldn’t do it and he buried the Wallabies with something to spare.

Australia, who managed only 107-7, take an unassailable 10-4 lead on points with just one T20 remaining.

ASHES 2015: Ben Stokes Aiming For Revenge Against Australia

All-rounder Ben Stokes says England's impressive start to the Ashes series feels "like revenge".
England lost 5-0 in Australia in 2013-14 but head into the second Test at Lord's on Thursday on the back of an impressive 169-run win at Cardiff.

"When they were eight wickets down, I was thinking how we felt when we were getting beat every game," said Stokes.

"To be on the verge of winning [the first Test] after what they did to us in Australia was pretty cool."
Durham's Stokes, 24, who made his Test debut in the second match of the whitewash down under, added: "We just had them on the back foot for pretty much the whole game, and they were a bit taken aback by that.

ASHES 2015: Australia Disappointed Over Shane Watson

Darren Lehmann admits Australia are "disappointed" with Shane Watson's batting problems and says changes will be considered for the second Ashes Test at Lord's on Thursday. England won the first Test by 169 runs, with Watson twice being dismissed lbw. He has been out in such fashion 14 times in 35 Ashes innings.

"You don't want to be getting out lbw all the time and you want to make more runs. Shane would be disappointed, so are we," head coach Lehmann said.

ASHES 2015: No Chance Of Victory For Australia

Australia do not have a "cat in hell's chance" of winning the first Ashes Test, says former England batsman Geoffrey Boycott. The tourists require 412 runs to win with two days remaining after England dominated the third day in Cardiff.

"There is no way they are going to get it," Boycott told Test Match Special. "Their batting is OK but not special."

Harris is replaced in the Australia squad by New South Wales' Pat Cummins. The 35-year-old missed Australia's final warm-up game at Essex before the first Test against England, which starts in Cardiff on 8 July.

Harris said: "I have had a wonderful career and nothing made me prouder than pulling on the Baggy Green."

SUPER FALCONS: FIFA Fines Ugo Njoku 641,349.27 Naira For Elbowing Australian Player

Nigeria defender Ugo Njoku has been suspended for three matches and fined 641,349.27 Naira by Fifa after being found guilty of elbowing Australia striker Sam Kerr in their last match. The substitute escaped the referee's sanction for the action in the second half but has now been punished after a post-match video assessment.

The Australian striker suffered a broken jaw from the incident. In a statement issued by Fifa on Monday morning, it said the decision became necessary after asserting the Nigerian's poor challenge in the game which the Super Falcons lost 2-0 on Friday.

"The FIFA Disciplinary Committee has reached a decision in the case related to Ugo Njoku of Nigeria following an incident that occurred during the FIFA Women’s World Cup Canada 2015 match between Australia and Nigeria played on 12 June 2015," the statement reads.

WORLD CUP: Australia Won't Park The Bus Against Netherlands Says Ange Postecoglou

Australia coach Ange Postecoglou on Tuesday promised the Socceroos won't sit back against a dangerous Dutch side as his team fights to stay in the tournament.

Postecoglou acknowledged that defeat to the Netherlands, 5-1 conquerers of reigning champions Spain last week, would probably mean the end of the World Cup for Australia.

But he said his transitional side, whose hopes are hanging by a thread after opening with a 3-1 loss to Chile, would not try to defend their way to safety.

WORLD CUP: Chile vs Australia Preview - All You Need To Know

Australia's first ever point in a World Cup group came courtesy of a 0-0 draw against Chile in June 1974; it remains their only clean sheet in 10 World Cup Finals matches.

Since their third place finish in 1962, Chile have only won two of their 17 World Cup games (D6 L9).

Chile have lost against a subsequent finalist in each of their last three World Cups (West Germany in 1982, Brazil in 1998 and Spain in 2010).

WOMEN'S ASHES 2014: England Loose To Australia In T20

England's successful Women's Ashes campaign ended in defeat as Australia earned a comfortable seven-wicket win the final Twenty20 international. On a slow Sydney pitch, England slipped to 15-3 and barely recovered - Rene Farrell taking 4-15 in their 101-8. Australia were untroubled in the chase, Elyse Villani's unbeaten 36 getting them home with nine balls to spare.

England had already won the Ashes on the multi-format points system, but end with three wins and four defeats. Their defence of the trophy they won at home last summer was given the best possible start by a 61-run win in the Test match - the six points earned meaning only two victories were needed from the three one-day internationals and three T20s.

CRICKET: Australia Crush England In Second T20 In Melbourne

Australia took control of the second T20 against England in Melbourne courtesy of an outstanding performance in the field, and no example of that was better than Glenn Maxwell's run and throw to run out Joe Root.
Australia added the Twenty20 series to their victories in the Ashes and one-day internationals, as an eight-wicket win over England gave them a 2-0 lead. England lost four wickets in as many overs early in their innings after opting to bat and only Jos Buttler (22) passed 20 in their mediocre 130-9.

CRICKET: Australia Beat England In First Twenty20 International

Australia defeated England by 13 runs in Hobart in the first of the three-match Twenty20 international series.
Openers Cameron White (75) and Aaron Finch (52) shared 106 inside 11 overs, with 11 fours and seven sixes as the hosts posted 213-4 after opting to bat.

Needing to equal their highest ever T20 total to win, England soon lost three wickets for seven runs in 13 balls. Ravi Bopara struck seven sixes in an unbeaten 65, the fastest England T20 fifty, as they finished on 200-9.

CRICKET: Australia Defeat England In Adelaide

England threw away a winning position as they crumbled to a five-run defeat by Australia in the fifth one-day international in Adelaide. Stuart Broad and Ben Stokes took three wickets apiece as the hosts were restricted to 217-9 on a slow pitch.

The tourists were cruising at 154-3 in the 36th over before Eoin Morgan and Joe Root (55) fell in quick succession.
Wickets continued to tumble as England were 212 all out in the last over to gift Australia a 4-1 series win.

The defeat sounds the final note of a dismal tour for England captain Alastair Cook, who will fly home before the teams contest a three-match Twenty20 series.

CRICKET: SOUTH AFRICA vs AUSTRALIA - George Bailey Dropped By Australia

Australia have dropped George Bailey from their Test squad to tour South Africa, despite the batsman helping them to beat England 5-0 in the Ashes. The 31-year-old has been dropped in favour of Alex Doolan and Shaun Marsh for the three-match series, which starts on 12 February.

"This was a difficult decision," said Australian selector John Inverarity.

"We felt Alex and Shaun have games that are well suited to facing South Africa in South Africa."
