The FIFA presidential election will be held early next year to crown in a new president. Several people across all continents have come out to show interest in running the affairs of football at its highest office.

FIFA Presidency: Zico Refuses To Invite Orji Kalu & Segun Odegbami For Public Debate

Zico has sent an email to the FIFA candidates he deems fit as serious. Alas, no Nigerian candidate was considered. We have said here before that its a big joke coming out of Nigeria when you suddenly wake up and hear that Orji Ujor Kalu is contesting for the top sit. As if that is not enough the 63 years old football mathematician recently declared his interest too. 

Segun Odegbami is an ex-footballer that also played during the Zico era but everyone can foresee that he's chances are slim. One might say Segun might be considered serious if he runs for CAF presidency. I wonder what their thoughts will be if they here that they were not invited for a debate.

Former Head Of State General Ibrahim Babangida Backs Orji Ujor Kalu's FIFA Presidential Bid

Former President, General Ibrahim Babangida (rtd), has joined the growing band of supporters for the candidature of former Abia State Governor, Dr. Orji Uzor Kalu, ‎for world football governing body’s, FIFA, topmost position.

Last week, CAF president, Issa Hayatou, also came out to swell the number of supporters for Kalu’s candidature.

One of the big jokes coming out of Nigeria, Orzi Uzor Kalu for FIFA presidency!!! Looks and sounds funny. Orji a former Governor of Abia state could not put his state on the national map not to talk of world map. What special thing did Kalu do as the then Governor that singles the state out.

FIFA needs someone spectacular with various achievements and with scandals being one of the major reasons why Blatter is stepping down an ex Governor from one of the most corrupt countries in the world is far from needed at the helms of affairs of football.

It's more surprising that a former professional John Fashanu who never deemed it fit to play for his fatherland but opted to play for England who latter dumped him to stylishly tell him that he is a black man and not a natural British opened his mouth to support Orji's aspiration. Fashanu's support is a bloody shame to the recently divorced ex-footballer. I wonder why he didn't think of contesting himself.
