A Move To Qatar Is An Option - Zlatan Ibrahimovic

Sweden and Paris Saint-Germain striker Zlatan Ibrahimovic has revealed that he could continue his career in Qatar at the end of his PSG contract in 2016.

The 34-year-old's existing contract with the Ligue 1 champions is due to expire at the end of the season and he has yet to make a decision on his future.

Ibrahimovic has been heavily linked with a move to MLS, but he has hinted that a move to the Qatar Stars League is an option as well.

Man United Rebel Angel Di Maria Passes PSG Medical

Angel Di Maria has passed a medical with Paris Saint-Germain ahead of his move from Manchester United.

The Argentine midfielder arrived in Doha on Monday but reports in France claimed that Di Maria was too tired to partake in an examination immediately following his transatlantic flight from his native country.

However, he arrived at the Aspetar hospital in the city on Tuesday to complete the assessment under the supervision of PSG doctor Eric Rolland, with his estimated €60 million (£44.5m) transfer set to be ratified before the club's opening Ligue 1 fixture at Lille on Friday.

Qatar Club Al Arabi Appoints Gianfranco Zola As New Coach

Former Italy forward Gianfranco Zola said he has taken a gamble in turning down management offers from England and at home to take charge of Qatari side Al Arabi.

The former Chelsea, Napoli and Parma playmaker signed a two-year deal with the seven-time Qatari champions on Tuesday, bringing with him another ex Italian forward Pierluigi Casiraghi to assist.

"I know I'm taking a big gamble by leaving behind offers from Italy and England and taking up a coaching position in Qatar," Zola, who was most recently working as a television pundit in Qatar, was quoted as saying by Doha Stadium Plus on Wednesday.

Qatar Will Not Host 2022 World Cup - Theo Zwanziger

The 2022 World Cup will not be held in Qatar because of the scorching temperatures in the Middle East country, Fifa Executive Committee member Theo Zwanziger said on Monday.

"I personally think that in the end the 2022 World Cup will not take place in Qatar," the German told Sport Bild on Monday.

"Medics say that they cannot accept responsibility with a World Cup taking place under these conditions," the former German football (DFB) chief, who is now a member of the world soccer's governing body Fifa that awarded the tournament to Qatar in 2010.

FIFA: 2022 World Cup Will Not Be Held In The Summer

FIFA’s secretary general has remarked that the 2022 World Cup in Qatar “will not be in June or July”.

Jerome Valcke, who has been given the task of looking at alternative dates due to the sweltering heat of summer in Qatar, says it is likely to be held sometime between November 15 and January 15.

Valcke told France Info: “It will not be in June or July.”

He added: “Frankly I think it’ll be played between November 15 and January 15 at the latest.

“If you play between November 15 and the end of the year that’s when the weather is at its most favourable.”

The French footballer has now written a letter to footballing ambassadors Zinedine Zidane and Pep Guardiola – who both campaigned for Qatar 2022 -, in a desperate plea for help, that one can only hope isn’t seen as too onerous on the pair, and reaches the global audience it’s surely intended for.
