Norwich 1-1 Everton: Wesley Hoolahan's Strike Earns Hosts Point

Chelsea's reject Romelu Lukaku scored his 6th EPL consecutive goal but the goal was cancelled out by Wesley Hoolahan's strike to deny the visitors full points.

A 40-year record was equalled and one held for a fortnight is now peering into view. Romelu Lukaku became the first Everton player to score in seven consecutive matches since Bob Latchford in 1975, six coming in the Premier League and Jamie Vardy’s 11 straight now becomes a relevant target.

Quite how Lukaku left East Anglia with just one remains a mystery after missing a glut of chances. And yet his manager, Roberto Martinez, will not mind because without him their defensive deficiencies would have meant a trip back to Merseyside with nothing.

Lukaku Can Be World's Best Player - Tim Howard

Romelu Lukaku wants to become the best player in the world, according to Everton goalkeeper Tim Howard. Lukaku scored his first goal of the Premier League season in a 2-0 victory against his former club West Brom on Saturday.

Much is expected of the 21-year-old after he sealed a permanent move to Goodison Park from Chelsea for a club-record fee of €35 million following a successful loan spell last season. Steven Pienaar Out Of Chelsea Clash As Lukaku Is A Major Doubt

Steven Pienaar has been ruled out of Everton's clash with Chelsea on Saturday but Romelu Lukaku could be fit to face his former club. Both players limped off in Saturday's 2-2 draw with Arsenal at Goodison Park, as Pienaar was replaced by Leon Osman after just 10 minutes with a groin complaint while Lukaku lasted 76 minutes before coming off with a toe problem.

Jose Mourinho's Chelsea visit Merseyside next weekend and Everton manager Roberto Martinez has confirmed that midfielder Pienaar will definitely sit out, but the Spaniard was more hopeful on striker Lukaku who joined from Chelsea in a £28million deal in the close-season.

JOEL ROBLES: Romelu Lukaku Perfect For Diego Costa's Replacement At Atletico Madrid

Romelu Lukaku would be a perfect replacement for Diego Costa at Atletico Madrid, according to Everton goalkeeper Joel Robles.

Costa has passed his medical at Chelsea ahead of a €43m move, with the 25-year-old having netted 27 goals in 35 La Liga appearances last season as Atletico were crowned Spanish champions. And Joel believes Lukaku going in the opposite direction would be a perfect deal for both clubs after playing alongside the Belgium international at Goodison Park in 2013-14.

Lukaku's loan spell at Everton saw him score 15 goals in the Premier League, but his future at Stamford Bridge remains uncertain.

EVERTON 2 SOUTHAMPTON 1: Lukaku's goal moves Everton into top 4

Everton moved into the top four of the Premier League as Romelu Lukaku's first goal in six games sealed victory over Southampton. Seamus Coleman gave Everton the lead with a fine strike into the top corner.

Saints substitute Gaston Ramirez levelled with a shot from range that Toffees keeper Joel Robles misjudged.

But just three minutes later Everton were back in front, with Lukaku converting James McCarthy's incisive 74th minute pass to seal victory.

The result means the Merseyside outfit leapfrog neighbours Liverpool - who lost to Chelsea in Sunday's later kick-off.

Everton are five points behind leaders Arsenal while Southampton remain ninth after a disappointing end to 2013.
