Aston Villa Will Sign Emmanuel Adebayor - Tim Sherwood

Aston Villa manager Tim Sherwood would jump at the chance to sign Emmanuel Adebayor if he showed the right attitude and desire but fears the Togo forward may now be frozen out of football until January after leaving Tottenham Hotspur.

Spurs said on Sunday that Adebayor had been released from his contract by mutual agreement. The 31-year-old has not played for Spurs this season and was left out of both their Premier League and Europa League squads.

Adebayor had reportedly rejected moves to Villa and West Ham during the recent transfer window but was told late last week by Spurs' boss Mauricio Pochettino he had no future at the club.

The completion of Raheem Sterling's £49m switch from Liverpool to Manchester City on Tuesday has further stoked speculation that Brendan Rodgers will look to the Belgian to bolster his Anfield forward line.

Tottenham vs Arsenal Match Preview

Neither Tottenham nor Arsenal will feel they can afford to lose the north London derby at White Hart Lane on Sunday. The Gunners make the short trip to their closest rivals needing three points to ensure they do not lose further ground to Chelsea in the Premier League title race.

Arsene Wenger's side currently trail the leaders by seven points, albeit with a game in a hand, and know a loss this weekend could well represent a fatal blow to their challenge for top spot.

The Frenchman will be seeking a response after Arsenal exited the Champions League in midweek courtesy of a 3-1 aggregate defeat to holders Bayern Munich.
