FRENCH OPEN: Ferrer Beats Bolelli To Reach Third Round

David Ferrer cruised into the third round of the French Open with a 6-2 6-3 6-2 win over Simone Bolelli.
Last year's runner-up Ferrer of Spain, the fifth seed, bulldozed his way into the last 32 by demolishing Italian Bolelli in 108 minutes.

The fifth seed, who could take on eight-times champion Rafa Nadal in the quarter-finals, will next play Argentine Juan Monaco or Italian 32nd seed Andreas Seppi.

"I am ready for the next round and was very happy with my performance, especially with my consistency," he said.
"My season on clay has been good (when asked about beating Nadal on clay this season). I have a good feel but I'm focusing on the moment."

David Ferrer became only the fourth player with two wins to their name over Rafael Nadal on clay after a 7-6 (1) 6-4 win in the Monte Carlo quarter-finals. Ferrer's win over his fellow Spaniard was a shock against the world number one, ho had won the Monte Carlo tournament eight times over the past decade.

A win over the eight-times French Open champion Nadal on clay is so rare that only a quartet of men have managed the feat more than once. Ferrer with two wins joins Novak Djokovic (three),Gaston Guadio (three) and Roger Federer (two) in some exalted company.

What's more it is the first time 10 years that Ferrer has beaten him on the surface with his previous success coming way back in 2004.

Tennis: Berdych to play Nadal again

Tomas Berdych reignited his hopes at the ATP World Tour Finals with a straight-sets win over David Ferrer. A 6-4 6-4 victory in Group A brought the Czech back into contention for the semi-finals, after he lost his opening match to Stanislas Wawrinka. Berdych, 28, will play world number one Rafael Nadal, who is already through to the last four, in his final round-robin match on Friday. Wawrinka can still take the second qualifying spot but Ferrer is out. Berdych has lost his last 15 matches against Nadal, and his last win came back in 2006. "Matches against him are always like a final because you're playing the number one player in the world," said Berdych." Every time you go on court with him it's amazing. It's already many, many matches that he's won [against me] and I need to do something about that." Lol, my verdict, its Nadal all the way, sorry Tomas.
